Question about weapons
Hi,
Is a weapon that has property "Attack Bonus +1" considered
magical for DR purpose? Or do you need "weapon +1" specifically?

Re: Question about weapons
With regards to ranged weapons it is slighly more confusing. It used to be just the "attack bonus" of the bow/sling/etc. and nothing to do with the ammo. But apparantly it is now either the "attack bonus" of the bow/sling/etc. or the "enchantment bonus" of the ammo! (I don't know when this patch came in, I only heard about it last week and haven't tested it yet).captainle wrote:Hi,

Re: Question about weapons
This remains unchanged. The attack bonus of the launcher is used to bypass damage reduction, you can't put enhancement or attack bonus on ammunition.Dirk Cutlass wrote:With regards to ranged weapons it is slighly more confusing. Are you absolutely certain (i.e. tested) ? A recent thread on this subject concluded that it had been changed (although I have not tested it myself)mortzestus wrote:This remains unchanged. Re: Question about weapons
You can put an enhancement bonus on ammo, it just wont do much other than raise the price of the ammo and give it a damage bonusmortzestus wrote:This remains unchanged. <Fuzz> thankfully, no one quotes me
<GairusWHO> I think so... but don't quote me on that.
<NWDuneAuron> in other news, study proves studies don't prove anything!
I am pretty sure that ammo enhancement raises both the 'to hit' and damage.
Example of the arcane archer. Also seem to recall it working that way for a character of mine with sling bullets or something.
But that was a while ago and tricky old Bioware is often tweaking this or that so I wouldn't bet money on it!

As the image below shows, enhancement can't be added to ammunition, period. Thus, ammunition can only have a damage bonus but never an attack bonus and it will never bypass damage reduction by itself: it is the launcher what matters. To test this, try to kill an iron golem (DR 30/+3) with a mundane longbow and arrows +3, that should be guaranteed fun.Papainhell wrote:Correct, enchantment adds the same amount to AB as well as dmg, no matter if it's melee or missile

Arcane archers are an entirely different matter.

Can someone sum what the AA bonus and how it effects DR?Arcane archers are an entirely different matter.
I figure it is:
+x to hit and +x, where x is the current AA enchant arrow ability
and that this stacks with bow bonus, might bonus and arrow damage bonus.
example:
Level 1 AA equiped with +3 Composite Bow with +5 Mighty (w/str to use it), and Burning arrows (+2fire damage). Dex 10 for argument sakes.
To hit bonus would be +4
Damage would be +5 piercing and 2 fire
Is this thinking correct?
