Thus just say that you're Khanjari.choraldances wrote:Right, you can do all that, but don't call it Asian. That concept doesn't exist.
You can have the codes all played in, but call it something withint Avlis terms.
Don't mention Asian or Asian associated in your RP, and you'll be fine.
<Sili> I've seen septic tanks with less shit in them than Fuzz.
<Ronnin> damm not even a kiss??
<Chasmania> Kiss Fuzz? I'd rather fellate a goat.
<Chasmania> there are many roads to Rome..they just picked a shit filled alley full of scabby hookers and bums.

Oh, no you misunderstand me. Setoru is NOT from Japan or China. He's from Fantasy Village 736. I mean that he's BASED on like Japanese and CHinese culture (IE, weapons, fighting style, etc.)choraldances wrote:The point is that there are no Japan, nor China in Avlis. If you say, I'm from an Asian town, the response suppose to be, what's Asian? There are no "Asia" either.mashimaro_ wrote:Well, my character is Setoru Rayne. He's semi Japanese, mostly Chinese. He fights with a longsword and a jian (a CEP longsword). My backstory for him is that he comes from a remote Asian-like town.
So, just like base him on an Asian race....
Whatev, cuz you can just Roleplay however.
EDIT: oh, and Setoru is a human. I see no reason for Asians to be another "race" in NWN terms. the races in NWN are almost species... but they can interbreed... but not really......... Well, there's African looking elves and humans. And there's an Asian human male face and an Asian elf female face (portrait). So in NWN terms, Black, White or Asian doesnt seem to mean too much, conidering the huge diff b/w like the elf and human races.
Skin Color is a totally different issue. You can be a Dark colored Human, pale color, whatever.
So, in short, he is NOT from a place on the real world. He is from a fantasy village that could very well fit into Avlis.
Yah.

Art thou feeling it now, Mr. Krabs?
No.

Do you know it will fit well into Avlis?mashimaro_ wrote:

We're always happy with characters making up backstories for their characters, but the idea is to create a character that fits within the world, not trying to warp the world to fit the character ('cheesing' as we "I'm from a nation far across the ocean where people are Japanese/Chinese and I was brought here by a spell gone HORRIBLY WRONG" fans say

I'm not the all knowing expert on the subject by any stretch of the imagination, and should probably just turn this over to the heavies (like Choral, etc), but I thought I'd throw in my two cents, as we're talking about infusing a type of culture that doesn't really have any footprint in playable Avlis into your character.
I'm certainly not telling you it's impossible for you to play a character like this, but you run a risk of interfering with the team and other players rp.
So my advice is to just be careful...learn as much about Avlis history, geography, etc as you can (Player's Guide and the info links on the left side of the main page are great helps) and even better, this is the sort of character that would be nice to run a bio/background by the team for....you may be trying to imagine parts of Avlis into existance to fit your character's vision that just don't fit with the EXTENSIVE history/culture/sociological/religious/magical documentation/writing the team has done (particularly the big daddies of it all, Silk and Orl).
Edit: We may very well tell you it's perfectly ok, we may ask you to change some minor aspect, we may give you suggestions to make it better or make it fit in more...it's possible we could flat out tell you it won't work, but I'm guessing unlikely.
Say hello to my little friend....

Alingments.
Hmm alright. Well Im going for a tiefling. He's not asian but I could see him belonging to some kind of assassin/ninja type guild or clan. I was also wondering about alingment. What alingment would someone be who can kill in cold blood but does not harm innocents, follows orders and is feircly loyal to his friends? Or for that matter someone who is a vigilantee ALA like the Batman but instead of putting the Joker way decides to kill his crazy butt cause hes too dangerous to let live. I dont think hes evil, hes not good. See I play my CN as the antihero type. hes not crazy, he doesnt NOT plan things out. He doesnt reveal in chaos. Hes still technically a "good guy" but he will kill the bad guy in cold blood if he has to. So does CN work for that? He still follows orders if he thinks they are good/smart orders but has enough free will to not follow them if they arent. Im not saying the PC I will play will be like that. Im just asking what alingment such a PC would be. Cause I noticed there are a lot of seemingly harsh rules on alingments and things. I might think Im playing a alingment just fine but a DM thinks Im not and wham Im banned.

I would say CG might be option. At least I've met such Tieflings and Hala is mostly CG plane. Doesn't mean that everyone there is CG.AkumaDaimyo wrote:Well you guys seem so nice and cool. I dont want to leave.Plus the alingment question could be answered just as well by you dudes I thought.
But you propably want to have a look here for details and world info: http://eventides.net/hala/
Who knows, maybe you'll meet my nice lady there

And pray tell, Grasshopper, what is the sound of one Hand clapping?Keflex wrote:The Orders of Valok and Aarilax probably tend to do a lot of spying and assassination. The thieves guilds might be what you're looking for, as well, and if you were looking for a more good-aligned aspect of that (which I doubt, if you're mentioning ninja), you could look at the Hands of Dru'El. Or you could, if they existed. Which they don't. Except for Melakin.

Problems with downloads for Hala
Ok well my application got accepted but now I have to download all this stuff just to play! I was going for Hala so what do I need? Also I dont have enough space left on my C drive. I did get a E drive but NWN isnt on that drive and it says if I try and move it that it could cause NWN to not work! What should I do?
I'd say CN for that setup, because you're definately not good if you're killing evil. Yeah yeah, you may say "well, CG is vigilante", but there's a big difference between breaking the law to do what you think is right, and breaking the law with the express purpose to find someone evil, and kill them. In some regards, you're down on their level, and thus, not-good.
As such, I'd say CN is perfectly fine. People seem to think that CN requires you to be crazy, when it totally does not. You jsut don't give a shit either way, and have no respect for the laws. Many people might call you a fool for your beliefs, or think you're insane for acting on your whims and breaking the law in the ways that you do, but that doesn't necessarily mean you actually ARE crazy or unstable.
Just remember that if you plan on ever taking Assassin levels, it has an Any Evil requirement on Alignment, since hunting people down expressly to kill them is an inherently Evil act, much like stealing is inherently Chaotic on Avlis.
Hope that helps.

Setoru isn't fron an Asian town. He's from a quiet village that could really form to any world I put him in. I made him in such a way he could fit into Avlis.Wombatforhire wrote:Do you know it will fit well into Avlis?mashimaro_ wrote:

Saying your character comes from a village in an existing nation/culture (even if that village isn't on the map), imagining a family, these sorts of things are usually ok...sometimes they cross the line.
