Problem opening my mod in DM client

Post by swoods » Sun Jan 07, 2007 2:41 pm

Got a bit of a problem, I can't open a module in the DM client. I've entered DM Client > New Internet/LAN game> picked module> Load> Select premade character. Then I get:

Attempting to find server.
Connection to server has failed.
Server is not responding (timed out).

Seeing as the mod is on my computer, I thought I should be able to actually open it with no problems. I have before...

What am I doing wrong?!

You loaded it into the NWN Server first right? (though you might not need to do this)

Looks to me that your computer can't find itself. I suggest a psychologist.

I don't think I need to load it to the NWN server... Its only for making items in for here, but I can't load any module in the DM client, Demo's or otherwise... Avlis seems okay though.

As for psychiatrists. They only want to know why?! I still have to find the answers!

Does the same thing happen if you create a new character?

its an inn interior, 2 x 2 squares. no other objects apart from custom items made in the wizard. I've also got a city exterior mod which I've been playing around with and that doesn't open either. Though both open with pc's and are playable.

Hmm when i've created keys for importing before I just used the CEP starter mod, imported the erf's, build and saved as yaddayaddakey.mod
maybe a stock mod might work.

EDIT So if you make the items then export them and import back into a fresh mod that may help :)

Click Advanced Options after you have picked the module, uncheck "Post game to Internet" if it is checked, see if it works?

I will not take, I will have.

Still no luck,

Even unchecking "post to internet" doesn't have the desired effect.

*gives up*

If I need to import things (which is rare), I import them into a basic module, run that with a copy of my DM avatar as a PC (copy it to localvault) and pick it up with that. Save character, quit, copy the avatar back to dmvault and there you are.

Much easier than trying to run a module properly. However, if you want to do it that way and then login as DM to it, I think you need to uncheck the 'load to Internet' option and maybe specify your localhost as the IP. Not done much of that, so I am not too sure of the details.
