SHS 1.7.3.5 Ideas and Requests

Post by IceThorn » Mon Jan 01, 2007 7:37 am

I'm starting work on the next spellhooking system (SHS) - v 1.7.3.5

Our primary goal is to hook all 297 of the BioWare spells. I believe that we have 87 more to go. We probably won't get them all in 1.7.3.5, so if there's an urgent need for some over others then we can do them next.

I won't promise to do every suggestion or request posted in this thread, but I'll try my best - as will the others doing the work.

So far I've got:

* Hooking the rest of the Bigby's and optimizing them.

* True Seeing (namely so they take all PC levels into account).

* I believe the necros want better options for the PM Animate Dead, but I don't know exactly what they're asking (want it just like Animate Dead?).

* Making the AoE metamagic work. That's quite a tough one.

Then it's hooking all the rest. Anything else?

If you know a bug that didn't get fixed in 1.7.3.4, then feel free to post the link to it's report. We'll try to fix the bugs, too.

Yes! :D

Under the Special Functions menu, "Palemaster Ablilities" gives me (so far) only the Summon Undead option. Animate Dead fPM ability does not appear in that menu. I guess the trick would be to give the same options to the palemaster ability Animate Dead as you have the spell without the two interfering with one-another.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. I can tell you that I have used a metamagic - sonic rod on Firebrand, and it damages its targets with sonic damage. Haven't tried it with other spells though.
Cheers,

I'd like to see the new Evard's Black Tentacles get into the next update (it was discussed some in the thread for the last update).

Cheers. :)

Firebrand is not an Area of Effect spell.

The crafting system doesn't need the epic spells to be hooked, so they're lower priority than the 297 non-epic spells. And the epic ones are feats making them more of a PITA to do.

Could you please elaborate on this, is TS bugged, or should it be based upon char lvl instead of caster lvl? Or is it screwy for PMs, holy warriors and the like?

Just curious, thx

I really like what you have done with the Animate Dead Spell... Could the Create Undead spell be hooked to be similar?

Thanks

IceThorn wrote:(...) but Militant Bonuses are only supposed to be allowed for casting on party members (to encourage parties). I forgot about that change. I'll post it in the 1.7.3.4 release notes.
Well, fighters get plenty of perks as it is (some may call them overpowered with all those feats and high BAB) so why should they be able to gain anything additional from say quaffing potions or buff themselves if they've multiclassed with a caster class? [/irony]

I think it's a great shame that one of the best things to have happened to fighter types in ages is changed into this... since the Team is so keen on encouraging PCs to party up why not simply code that each PC in a party located within the same area gains +2 to AC and AB to reflect the advantage of numbers?

And then revert the mechanics of the Militant Bonuses as they were, since initially they were included to give the fighter types a much needed boost, not to encourage parties. :) I see little reason why the bonuses should not be gained from quaffing potions or buffing oneself, the latter since a multiclassed MilitantBonusEligibleClass / CasterClass is by default suffering from low Militant level and low Caster level.

Edit: Clarified a thing or two.
WrathOG777: This is a roleplaying game. There is no such thing as winning or losing. Only playing.

The Militant Bonus has always been to encourage partying. It hasn't changed for Fighters.

I like that idea, too. Perhaps you could also look into making the summons for Create Undead a bit stronger. They're pathetically weak for that level. I don't think I ever see that spell used.

Another idea: make Sinsabur's Baleful Bolt increase the STR and CON of undead (it causes STR and CON drain to the living, and currently has no effect on undead).

By the way, the change to Enervation in 1.7.3.4 is cool. :good:

edit: sorry, I'll put that stuff in the 1.7.3.6 thread ;)

We already released SHS 1.7.3.5:

We wanted to fix some stuff quickly. The recommendations people put in above will be considered for 1.7.3.6 which we're already working on.

Here's the new thread for 1.7.3.6 discussion:
