I been messing with the toolset and its freaking overwhelming. All I want to do is make a simple arena mod. I won't make it public I'd just like to start off with something that I thought was easy. I have tons of questions and don't even know which ones to ask first. Here goes anyway.
1) Can I make custom factions? I would like it to be a free for all when DM'ing this with some friends in my area.
2)I want it that you are in a small town and that you enter a "supposedly" abandoned barn. When you enter and then go down the stairs you enter an underground arena. I want the arena to be one of those Colliseum buildings How do I make transitions? I tried a bit and I am a complete moron with the thing. I don't even know how.
3) I would like it scripted so that there is a ticket fee. How would I script an NPC to collect this?
4) I would like to change the death handling situation. I want it to where when the player dies he is sent back to the town inn where a NPC says they found him on the road near death. How do I script this and script so that the NPC can heal the player? (like clerics and stuff)
5)Merchants....nuff said.
Thats it for now and I am sure I will run into more as I try to make it. I didn't post this on NWN boards which may have been a better spot but I figure with people who made such a world like this you would know better than some of the people on the site would plus it wouldn't get bumped down in 1 day. I might answer some of these tonight while I am trying to figure it out but this building stuff is hard. Thanks in advance to all those who reply with answers.

OK, I made an arena wayyyy back when for my first module, Sandy Valley Days. You can download it at http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/da ... 9730.shtml
The arena is at Keepin' Tabb's, and is set up to allow PCs to place bets and watch monsters fight. The gladiators are all customized, and are randomly selected. The odds for each contestant winning are set in one of the scripts, so the bets work as they should.
I'm going to give you some good advice though... don't try to run before you can walk. The toolset, and scripting, can be pretty overwhelming. An arena is a lot more complicated than it sounds... I'd start with some easier things.
The first place you should probably look is the NWN home page, especially the Builder's Area ( http://nwn.bioware.com/builders/ ).
The NWN Lexicon is invaluable ( http://www.reapers.org/nwn/reference/ ).
You'll also find a lot of great information at the Bioware forums, especially the Toolset and Scripting areas.
Poke around a little in my arena, and let me know when you have some more questions. I could e.g. give you some advice on how to script a ticket fee, but I'm worried it might not make much sense to you at this point, no offense intended. It might be easier to look at an example (even a rather complex one
) and work from that.

Thanks. Its a little late here so I'll look into some of this stuff with more detail tomorrow. Right now I'll skim through it a bit.
Edit: Cool thanks loads. Guess I won't be getting any sleep after all.
