None of the stores that offer the code are in my town, so I just pre-ordered the game online a couple weeks ago. Figured I wouldn't get the toolset early but didn't feel like driving an hour (twice) just to do that.

However, today the online website I ordered it from emailed me my pre-order code, even though the site said nothing about the pre-order promotion.

:cooler:

If you ordered from Gamestop/EB online, be sure to check your email, and check you bulk mail if you filter out that stuff!

Funny thing. I email Gamestop last night to ask about getting the code because I preordered online. Get home and check my email.

Email 1. Sorry, we don't know anything about this. Tough luck, thanks for shopping.

Email 2. Here is your code and how to use it.

Funny, eh? They don't even know what they are doing.

ahh, classic. Went to the download site a few hours ago, and it said 4 hrs and change to download.

Just logged in, expecting it to say 10 mins, and now it says 9 DAYS and 10 mins

Guess they found a few more bugs :)

Guess the game is getting delayed a bit more too, as Gamestop has changed the ship date to 10/31/06

Yeah. I left the page up, and when I came up it kept loading in an infinite loop. I had to refresh. Ironically, now you have to create an account and log in to see the counter tell you how they're shafting us.

Bah.

yah, they suck. I can't even see the counter anymore, just get directed to a page with tons of advertisement for Atari games.
(Maybe I'm just to stupid to find the right link though).

anyway, it's official. It was delayed for another nine days..

At least there is a chance that it might be right when its released. I would not want to get a crappy toolset.

that happened to me at first, and I just kept going in a circle, logging in, going to atari.com page, clicking nwn2, logging in, going to atari page... it kept opening a new atari page, so I ended up with like 8 windows opened before i finally got to the counter.

and is it just me, or is that stupid spinning country flag annoying as hell! To damn hard to click on my nations flag. Ended up in the damn french site last nite!

Yeah, me too. It was midnight when the download was supposed to be available, and I stayed up for the download. When the time came, the timer page broke (spinning 33:33:33 over and over), so I mucked about for maybe 45 minutes trying to get the damned toolset; reloading the page, going directly to the nwn2.com site, the atari site, everything I could think of. I assumed there was some sort of problem with the website, and hoped it would be fixed shortly.

In the morning when I awoke, there was a message saying the toolset was delayed. Where was that message when the timer ran out? Or, I dunno, even a little beforehand? They had to have known they weren't distributing it yet.

On one hand I'm good with it, because I'd rather have it work rather than be released just because they had to make a deadline. On the other hand, it doesn't inspire miuch confidence in Obsidian, because it's starting to feel like they're just pulling these release dates out of their asses and hoping they'll be done by then....

It also makes me nervous thinking about how long we'll have to wait for them to release the Dm client ( for those of you who don't know, they've gone back and forth from saying it'll be released the day the game is, then saying it'll be ready for download as close to the game's release as possible, and that initially the client will just be a clone of the NWN one).

We'll have a DM Client one way or another. ;)

The "it'll be better when they release it" argument doesn't hold water. We're nto expecting a finished product - we're expecting something we can play with. This makes me think they have no version control and didn't have a stable version to release. It obviously functions to some degree, or the single player game wouldn't be a month behind the toolset release.

Bah I say. Bah.

the toolset they're going to release.. is that the same toolset they used to build their single player campain?

if so, either the whole game is fucked up I guess or their preliminary version can't be ~that~ bad, huh?

at least they updated their crappy webpage :P

For those in the UK still after the pre-order box with the toolset code, it would appear to be available at GAME now as per this post on Atari's forums.

I spoke to my local GAME store a few minutes ago and they confirmed they do have pre-order boxes in for £1.99 so i'm going to pick one up later to see if it's what we're after...

Guys, keep in mind that this delay wasn't specifically for the toolset itself.

The toolset prerelease is directly tied to the release date of NWN2. Exactly 30 days. If NWN2's single player campaign, or other components, need more bugs fixed, and the game gets delayed, so does the toolset prerelease.

Woohoo! The local GAME shop had the pre-sell pack on the racks for £1.99. Now all I have to do is to figure out where to register my toolset code as the info in the pack was *cough* out of date. Gah!
