Community Created CC Compliance: What is it?

Hello World of Avlis members! I have been registered for a while and have been really quiet. This is not my normal mode, and any of you that cruise the Biosidian forums should know this.

I admit, my joining WOA had it's ulterior motives. Firstly, I was interested in how most of you conducted yourselves on your site and what your primary forum content was like. Secondly, I was interested in generating community support for things coming up with NWN2 that I thought would be a benefit to the community as a whole as well as something important in that same vein.

At this point in time, with NWN2 really just around the corner, I felt it was time to get the message out that the concept of Community Created Custom Content Compliance (adhered to standards and practices on the part of Content Creators all over) was being discussed at the NeverWinter Citadel Project.

This beginning of discussion can be found here: Community Created Custom Content Compliance (C5): What is it? and I invite any and all who might have an interest either as content creators, content users or both, to come over and join in the discussion.

Clearly, no single person in the community can simply say, "These are the standards, use them." This would be ludicrous in the highest sense. Still, considering how the growth of NWN came about sort of willy nilly, it would be nice to have a path of travel set up before a lot of custom content started trickling out to the web.

In this light, it is important, I feel, to make sure that as many folks in the community as possible know about the discussion going on and where to get to it to join in.

It is better to have a path, even if not a great one, than to have no path at all. Of course, on the table for discussion is included the idea as to whether or no the content standards would even be necessary or a benefit to the community as a whole.

NWCitadel is not in the buisiness of reinventing the wheel nor are we a competitor for any site's work or cleientele. We aim to be the virtual bridge of goodwill to all other NWN related sites, hosting space for folks to come together and strategize, plan projects, idea monger, get together to network, assist and coordinate their own pet projects, module designs, custom content sharing of ideas and techniques for the good of the community.

You are part of that community and so you are invited to participate in the discussion that may result in some standards and practices that allow custom content from many differing sources to co-exist peacefully on all hard drives without extensive haks, resources being overwritten and line numbers being in conflict with each other. Come on over and check it out. Make your voices heard and spread the word as well.
