Elves have Walk Mode as well?
Is there a way for an Elven PC to use the normal "walk mode", that's normally on F2 (actually called Detect Mode) when you start with (for example) a Human? I know I can press Shift + mouse to let my PC move in walk mode, but I'd much rather use the ASDW keys to move, plus I don't want to run the last bit to transitions and such.
And walking in Hide mode is not a good option either.
Someone got good tips? Or just not possible?

go to Options -> Controls -> Change Key Settings
If you scroll down you will eventually get to 'Drive Mode Forward', just above 'Drive Mode Forward Run' (which is by default your 'W' key). Once you specify your 'Drive Mode Forward' you can use that instead of W (I use space) to walk slowly.
edit: aww, Vipact was first.

Shift + click if you like to click to move will make you walk. You don't have to keep shift depressed the whole time, just hold it, click your destination and release.
Thought thinks itself.

I know that elves are always 'in' detect mode, but when you actively select detect mode (F2) doesn't your character walk?

Yep, mapping a walk key is the best solution. I use the F key so that I have the ASDWF pattern. Space bar is a good one too.
Or whichever else you're comfortable with.

Nay, 'tis a BOOM !
Perhaps even a BOOM! !
I have W set to walk, and space as Run. So I get fine control when using AWSD keys, and space which I hit with my thumb is just RUN!
