Dual Monitors

Post by Dralix » Thu Aug 17, 2006 2:34 am

Does anyone run NWN with a dual monitor setup? What I want is to run NWN fullscreen in one monitor, and browse forums or watch pr0n or whatever in the other. Problem is that in dualview mode, whenever I switch focus to something in the secondary monitor, NWN minimizes. If I use horizontal span mode, the secondary blanks as soon as I start in fullscreen.

Anyone have any better success?

Got the same issues in full screen which is why I run NWN in window mode instead.

Have you tried a stretch across both monitors for your desktop, but running NWN in windowed mode at the resolution of one monitor only?

so if your desktop is 3200x1200 (2 1600x1200 monitors), run nwn in windowed mode of 1600x1200, in the left monitor... :?:

That is so simple it might work. *goes to test*

*edit* Nevermind. NWN has to be below the monitor res to work in window mode, or you get 640x480 or something crappy like that

I think the line of reasoning is to fool NWN into thinking that you've set the resolution lower than the monitors, when really it's identical to one of them. But it doesn't work. Still comes up in a window.

It'll either be in window mode which you can place anywhere or in fullscreen mode on the primary screen.

That's the two options you've got.

Fullscreen on the primary is what I want, but without the minimizing whenever I mouse to the secondary. Windowed mode is second best, but still vastliy superior to single screen, so I'm still ahead.

I have two monitors, but I've never gotten full screen to work with my rig. Windowed mode works fine, but if I put NWN to fullscreen (on the primary display) and then click on some other program on the secondary screen (say web browser), I get a blue screen of death at least some of the time... might be related to the minimizing behavior you describe -- but for me it doesn't ever get that far -- I get a kernel panic instead. Its windows mode or the highway for me...

Found that windowed and browser or what ever on the second monitor is the best. Full screen just sends things to hell.

Got to get used to no edge turing with the mouse though.

I use two monitors and yeah, I have to use windowed mode to. But I have it set up so that my main monitor (my laptop, which is a wide screen) has higher resolution than the other monitor, so I just have NWN set to a res to match the width of my secondary monitor and everytime I start up I just drag it over to the secondary monitor
