Master Server scheduled downtime

Post by PlasmaJohn » Fri Aug 11, 2006 8:55 pm

With a whopping 12 hours of warning, Bioware graced us with this:
Bioware front page wrote:BioWare Scheduled Internet Downtime BioWare Scheduled Internet Downtime
[Aug 11 2006] BioWare's websites, the NWN Master Server, and NWN Online Authentication will experience intermittent interruptions Saturday August 12, 2006 from 10am to 4pm MT as we perform network maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience.
That's 1600-2200gmt.

If the MS goes away while you're logged in, you won't notice a thing. If you try to portal, get disconnected or crash, then you will not be able to log in until the Master Server returns. Due to security reasons there's not much else we can do about this. We will not change our configuration.

What is MT? A mis-spelling of GMT?

"Mountain Time". It's for mid/western North America...I think.

At least it gives me a reason to be less unhappy about working another Saturday :( 9am-3pm my time, so I can live with it.

You know, it'd be nice for them to label it MDT rather than MT in their news releases, since that's what it is. Not a big thing, but it'd be a little more obvious what they're talking about. You can never be too obvious when you're dealing with people.
