So if I used all my buffing spells but none of my offensive spells then immediately crashed I logged back in with the effects still on and the spells that I used unavailable to be cast until I rested.

I have no idea what they did to accomplish that though.
What was the name of the world? And is it still around?
I think that is exactly how it works on the Abyss server.

I crash often when there is alot of magic being cast and large battles. If a player always crashes when nothing is going on I'd be suspicious

Custom races lose any spell effects or other effects such as ioun stones upon crashing, because of the way that the info for that is stored on the hide. That is why you see szabot(Drangonari), chamalscuro(Changeling), saying they have lost theirs, and people like girlysprite(Halfling), p0m and PsiOmega(Humans) not noticing it. Caster non-caster alike, it all depends on the race, every custom race that I have, and everyone who plays a custom race lose all effects on crash/logout.

If my mage, an elf casts buffs on myself and say a ghostelf, and I crash, both of us will retain the spells casted upon them. If the ghostelf crashes, all spell effects, buffs will be lost on them. If a ghost elf mage casts on themselves and my half-elf monk and the ghost elf crashes, the ghost elf will loose all the buffs casted on them, but the spells casted on my monk will remain.

If anyone has a fix for this, I would like to know so that it can be implemented on Hala as well, and I know that a lot of custom race players will be happier.

Until then I would seriously be opposed to a fix that remembers used spellslots until resting, though the implementation for that may store the same as buffs, therefore custom races would be unaffected by it.

Wow, all this time, and now it's finally explained. Since I pretty much only play custom races, too, I never would have noticed that. Thanks. :P

I keep buffs most of the time when I have a client crash. I crash sporadically but its frequency is certainly related to what I am doing at the time. The larger the party, the more npc's involved and the more battle is involved the more likely it is I will crash. In DM events the crash frequency goes right up. Paradoxically these situations are the ones in which you gain most from crashing (and therefore refreshing your seplls). This may make it seem like more people are doing it on purpose but I am not sure they are.

I know that my everytime i get spell/ buffs cast on my weapons, will almost always come back after reset or crash. They will also last through server portals for their normal duration.

Im not sure if the PC skin is an actual item thats invisible, but if its not, then maybe someone could script the pc skin and change it so its like a invisible bioware weapon, so that all extended duration spells lock on the modified pc skin somehow. I suppose you would have to change what some of the spells target. If that was possible scripting wise that might fix one of the issues with spells not lasting through server portalling, and possible crashing.

Aha, thanks LadyPhoenix77. That's why my cleric (an orc) loses his buffs. :D

So check if the PC who logs in is a custom race or not and keep/remove spell slots accordingly?
