Ok.. to make it clear..

it is only ONE day!! I am not going to spend a weekend in a pub with all drinking and smelling men around me...

But!! I want people here in England to come over, so I can ask them if they want to help me organize a WEEKEND meet..

So Daan! stop crying and save for a ticket to London

Xeo, it is on a saturday, if you want to go huggie huggie with fifty ask him if you can spend the night..

Eindridi, I will be in my own bed (wel not my own bed) at night again, so there should not be a problem that you leave early and you dont have to get drunk.. You can just come early in the morning like me

Are there any more questions before I see people show up with sleepingbags and tents??

I'm guessing here, but... does anything strange happen if you get fed after midnight? Hehehehehehehe.

Anyway, I can't make it I'm afraid. I'll have a beer down my local instead and think of you all.

That was me. Sent the text before I realised it was a landline number.

Wasn't sure if the text-->voice thing would work.

Ok, well I just noticed this thread about 5 minutes ago...

I can make it Saturday or Sunday, though Saturday would be better.

Venue wise, somewhere near the tube would be sweet. 8)

Cheers,

I've got a better idea than a pub meet. A park meet. We find somewhere to meet, sit in a park, go to the pub if we feel like it, throw a frisbee about, kick a ball, eat ice lollies, etc etc..

Our best options would be, in my opinion:

Regent's Park (also near London Zoo)
Hyde Park
Victoria Park

None of which are too hard to get to. Victoria Park is conscpicuous by its proximity to my home. :) I prefer Regent's or Hyde though, tbh.

Sounds awesome, and also cheaper.

The only problem I forsee is the weather. This weekend it's going to be wet after Monday-Friday of being glorious sunshine... so... might be the same that weekend too. Providing the weather is good that does sound like an awesome idea Fifty.

Sounds wonderfull Fifty, shall we do it this way:

If the weather man says it is gonna be sunny and dry we are going to Regent's Park. If the weather man tells us the chance that it will rain is big we go to Victoria park (so we can have cover at your place fifty??)

I was hoping to come but just learned that my operation to have a kidney stone removed has been scheduled for the 20th. The bloody thing is the size of Texas so forgive me for allowing it to take precedence over an Avlis meet. Another time, I hope to make it.

Does anyone have an idea what the weather is going to be?

Does anyone that lives in London has a sleeping place for 3 people?? *blinks sweet*

Yay!

Incidentally, I decided I'd rather not meet in Victoria Park. It occurred to me that it is closer to my school and therefore most of my students' homes, than is safe, as I don't really want any of my students to see me sitting around in the park drinking alcohol. Whilst there is, strictly speaking, nothing wrong with it, I just don't want to be looking over my shoulder all day and making sure I do not misbehave. Thus, I suggest Regent's Park, which is not hard to get to by Tube anyway.

5 day forecast currently puts Saturday as light cloud in London.

As for where in Regent's Park...

I suggest in the corner of the park close to Regent's Park Tube and Great Portland Tube. (Also only 10 minutes walk from Euston Station), as per multimap. (Roughly where it says "Coll")

see on multimap here

Later we can take a walk up Primrose Hill, which is also nice, and close by.

Tomorrow I will PM my mobile number to everyone who needs it.

Awesome. But it looks like the weather is going to be AWFUL!

So take warm clothes/umbrella for the 'picnic' in the park :D
