Great stuff :)

The reason I suggest this is that there don't seem to be as many IC posts as there were in the past. IC posts are an excellent way for you the players to make an impact on what's happening in Avlis and also to start rumours that can be heard ingame. Sometimes DMs even expand upon these rumours or posts and incorporate them into their plots (notice I said ~sometimes~ making a post in no way ensures DM attention).

DMs also like to read write ups of anything they run for you the player. It shows the DM that the players enjoyed the event and makes it more likely that there will be more of the same. If there are no write ups following a DM event the DM may well get the idea that noone enjoyed the plot and then move on to greener pastures so to speak.

This is my own personal take on this, I am in no way speaking for the team as a whole though I happen to know that many DMs feel the same way.

That's enough rambling from me :)

Game on :D

Well, I think there's a bit of a difference between stuff that can concievably used for plots and random "I'm evil so I'm killing NPCs" crap that seems to have started up again.

The latter gets really really old, particularly when you're an enforcement sort being expected to deal with it. (Yes, you're in a marketplace that's full of people, should concievably even have guards in it, but you go around killing someone and there's no witnesses? Try that at your local shopping mall sometime.)

Question regarding this: Can you create a code that spawns guards when you attack NPCs? I recall this happening in Baulder's gate. Would it be possible/practical to use the code in public places where there would be guards present?

Agreed.

So sad to see Farmer Ben dead again. Poor guy, what's he done to upset folk? And his prizwinning tomatoes are so scrummy in a salad.

And olbs too. I found a human child tonight that muttered something about his dad off killing evil elfs in some forest. That child is lying dead in a barn now. No more LG Dal.

LG Dal went a long time ago surely?

Although I guess killing humans isn't worth a shift to evil really.

Seven Heavens was so much nicer than Mechanus. I hate Mechanus. Trying to get out of Mechanus drunk is utterly futile.

So you see? DM's have feelings too.

But then option two: all you have to do is use the Raves forum to praise a DM ooc.

But a good IC write up is enjoyed more by most DMs then a Rave.

And the people who weren't in the event appreciate any sort of ic writeup more than a rave.

+1 and me too

It takes minimal effort to post “Rave [insert DM name here]” but you actually have to put some effort into writing an IC post. I think the extra effort is worth it to show your appreciation, and I enjoy reading them too. So come on people start posting IC raves.

*bump* if you want to be evil and do some NPC killing, have a DM around and have a goal. To just slaughter some NPCs because no DM or PC is watching so you get no consequences is meh.

+1
I am tired of wasting my time on gathering information in a HUGELY busy market about how someone magically killed 15 people and no one noticed.

*mutters*
It's chaos, be kind.
