Newest way to donate to Avlis- Fo' FREE

Post by Orleron » Sat Feb 11, 2006 6:41 am

If you direct your attention to the "Community" sidebar on this front page, you will see a new link: "Shop our Sponsors" This is the newest way to contribute to Avlis. For some of those banners, like Real Arcade and Gamefly, all you have to do is sign up for a free trial, and we get $10 or $12 for it. Others, you'll have to actually buy something and we get a commission, but there are many useful things on there, like Ebay from various countries. If you open up a confirmed account on Ebay, for example, we get a lot of money. Btw, to make sure this is all legit, I tested most of them out on myself already before letting anyone else do it and have not seen any problems.

So like I said, in some cases, this costs you NOTHING but a little time, and we get a nice check for it, so here's your chance to help support us once in a while.

Also, I have full control over what kinds of banners we get, so if there are any that you would like to see that are not up there, let me know. I have placed up banners with the following interests, based on what I know about us as a community:

Ebay and trading sites
T-shirts
Historical gifts and jewelry
Online movie rentals
Online game rentals
Online game downloads
Online photosharing
Bookstores
Electronics
Music downloads

***When you look at the sponsors page, remember to reset it. That will show you different banners each time you do.****

this is sweet, a way for me to help get you guys some money.

im gonna go through and sign up for as many free trials that i can find in those links. me not having a credit card to make purchases but somehow already having an ebay account.

for the ebay, do you have to sign up for a new account and get it confirmed or can you log onto an existing one and you still get commission?

Need to sign up with a new one and get it confirmed.

The free trials also require you to input a credit card, so you're outta luck there. :(

As long as this doesn't lead to pop up advertisements, i think it is a very good way to make use of the amount of people who use the website. :D

Thanks. Signing up for the ones that take credit card information is the way we get money. We don't get anything if you sign up from the ones that don't ask for your credit card, but we do get something if you buy from any one of them.

So if you have some basic shopping needs and we have an ad for it, help us out. :)

Added a bunch of new merchants that give us $$ for free trial sign-ups:

UseNext (german site that lets you download stuff)

GoToMyPC.com (remote PC access site, both a US and a UK banner, but anyone can use either)

XDrive.com (great site for remote disk storage, I've used them before)

CallWave (sending and receiving faxes on the internet)

Credit cards are still required. I have free trialed all of these myself already.

Added a link to a place called Jamster, which sells ring tones and backgrounds for cell phones. Pretty cool.

We get $5 whenever you buy there.

Also added a video chat one, PalTalk, which could be cool. It's a free trial, requires credit card and we get some money when you sign up for the trial.

AOL Music Now has a 30-day free trial which pays us $10 when you register on the site. Costs nothing for you to do, 'cept a few minutes of time.

Added a Matchmaker.com banner.

Anyone here dating? :)

I can't test this one, but it says we get $35 when someone signs up for it successfully, though I have no idea if it costs anything. Er... I won't find out either. :)

Just a bump. It's the beginning of the month, and that's the time Orl takes to try to ensure we get enough.

Game on.
