How to remove yourself when stuck on scenery

Post by Fire Monkey » Thu Dec 08, 2005 1:02 pm

I guess people are still having trouble with this one and there is an easy fix so I suppose everyone should know:

If your character gets stuck to any bit of scenary etc. just face the wall or whatever it is you are stuck to, open up the emote menu and make a campfire or tent. The animation involved in making the object will automatically push you backwards slightly and unstick you from whatever you were stuck too!

unless you're near a plot door in which case you're pretty much stuck there

Or, you can press '~' and type the word 'makesafe' into the command console. This will work most times, but not always.

That has never once worked for me.....

I find often worst case is you can log out and back in immediately and the server will place you in a location where you arent stuck.

I would think that is a DM type of action so it's somehow disable for players in NWN Avlis???

Sometimes you can get pushed out of a stuck area by shapeshifting into a larger avatar, though that's not available to all classes.

If you are in an area with a plot door so you cant build a tent, try sitting or lying down. That might bounce your character over the unwalkmeshed portion of the scenery.

Has anyone else had their character caught by a corpse body? Gives the term 'dying at your feet' a whole new meaning.

Sitting down or lying down might work, but usually if you logout and in again, you are returned to the point where you entered the area - i.e. near the Area Transition - which should solve the problem.
Life is never as bad as you think it is, although that doesn't help at the time.

I find if I unplug my network connection, and allow myself to time out, when I log back in again, I come back at the transition where I first entered the area.
Works everytime in this situation.
