Which is better summons to take....

Post by drunkenpig » Wed Oct 26, 2005 2:36 am

On the Eve of my One Year Anniversy, I just made a level, and now have 3 choices of a summons. Which of the three summons are a better choice to take.

I use my summons to fight along side me. I typically will do a large damage effect spell, then go in for melee fighting.

With this style, what are the pros/cons for each summon: the Dire Bear, the Red Slaad, or Skeleton Chiefton

I have IC reasons (pros and cons) to utilize all of them. Just can't decide which :)

Depends on your RPing...But I bet you'll enjoy a buffed Skeleton chief as a sidekick.

Seconded. If you find yourself in battles where the slaad can survive, it will put itself back together nicely between fights. They also look cool.

I'm curious exactly what you are that you can pick between them.

my skeleton is uber when i buff it up, It set a unbuffed Formian Ant worker (( the uber summon one )) to either badly wounded or near death. Good fight, especially for the summon level diff.

so I would say skele if you can sacrafice abunch of spells to buff it up, and the slaad if you want it to live longer on its own? sounds decent advice to me ^^

For IC reasons you should go with the slaad..heck your a member of the red order of wizards..would look cool for that.

Also, i know you hate undead

But what do I know...I'm just a silly fighter who can't cast any spells.

hmm, I'd prefer the slaad, I like summons that don't need me to heal them constantly and can do fighting without lots of help from master :D

Buffed Slaad=sick summons. My cleric gets one *shakes fist at Bioweird for making NE summons for LN cleric*. With him fully buffed, and adding his own buffs to those, he wades through most anything. Only thing is don't charge. They like the AoE spells, and they aren't very conscious of party members *again shakes fist at Biowhore for their crappy AI*

Darn undead haters!

Anyways, its better to just forget about the stats, no matter what one you pick, buff it to the hilts and bob's your uncle. Just pick what bests suits you,

bear if you're a nature freak
slaad if your one o them chaos nuts
skelly if your a necro

Oh one more thing:
Undead, be a lover not a hater!

edit: uch, that came out wrong

Well, I'm not truly an undead hater, its just some, uhh, I'll call them "friends" of mine are the undead hater type, you know, palladdys and all. So I guess they are a bit rubbin off on me. One once told me if I "ever learned how to summon those back from beyond the grave, he'd have to send it back everytime I brought one forth"

So, the real debate was between the bear and the slaad, I just didn't want to leave the undead out incase he was a good choice. I could always tell my "friends" to sit and spin on his shin bone :)

So looks like I'll go with the Slaad. He was my first choice.

What was interesting was the split between the slaad / skeleton was so equal throughout the poll, with the bear a distant last.

The bear is a little behind for survivability, though a buffed one will still easily get the job done till you change your summon again.

I prefer the skel personally. Negative energy ray is an inexpensive way to heal him up during battles. The cleave ability is nice too when it's engaged with multiples.
Everything is funny as long as it happens to someone else
