Treants in Avlis

Post by Buddha » Tue Aug 16, 2005 6:03 pm

After an encounter with these fine fellows last weekend, and also having been pwned by one in the Vismontium beta, I have to ask: what is the official name of Treants on Avlis, and how much information is available to the general populace about them?

I've searched the .pdf document player's guide, the forums and the player wiki, and no data exists about them (using treant and tree walker as search strings). On the initial encounter, I went by the floaty (*gasp* Did I metagame?) and considering the fact that my character was half-nymph/half-elf and from Le'Or, sporting a pretty decent Lore score, I "identified" them to the group I was with as "Treants."

Did I pooch this one? Are they called something else? I'm sure the people of Avlis would probably have as many names for them as the world has for Bigfoot type creatures, but what is the "scholarly" name used?

They are called Treewalkers and they reappeared in the last stages of the recent war. Not a lot information has gone public but there but there is a clue in the IC boards on who to contact to get the full story :)

That is true for Le'Or and southern reaches.
But as far as Northern Deglos and vicinity around Visimontium goes.... there may be a different story.

Does that mean that we finally solve the mystery of where the walking furniture comes from?

Bah! I didn't start this to give you evil ideas, Tali!

I saw the IC hint on the board under my Elysia Tavern post. I guess I was more curious whether or not "Treant" was a proper term. Does that work as well? I've seen it bandied about, since others have seen them and they have that as a floaty name.

I'll catch up with the character for the IC scoop if I get a chance. Always dying for a good story!

Note to self: Avoid Visi until Tali gets the idea out of her head, then proceed with extreme caution.

Addendum: Do not lend DMs evil ideas.

Addendum II: Avoid doing anything that may get your character pwned by a tree with an axe looking to make an elf chair

Appendix: Crap.

The original introductions of them was as Treewalkers.

This was part of a DM plot and done intentionally to keep them separate from LoTR

I would suggest heading there now, and bugging out as soon as you see her update again. Thats when you're going to be in trouble.

You're doubly screwed actually. Not only is Tali going to get you, but so will O'Ma

Right, avoid Visi, Tali, O'Ma, and most of Elysia/Wilderness, as well as LeOr. Mikona, here I come. Oh, and avoid any wooded areas, including but not limited to, Avlis. Good thing my monk is fast and has Dimension Door, otherwise this might be difficult. Anyone got a Charm Plants spell?
