Not going to happen on my 20GB laptop hard disk. Thanks for the idea, though.

The following files will be released on Friday, August 5th. Specific hour not given.
CoPaP Hak 4.5
Universal Hak 4.5
CoPaP TLK 3.5

Any new content that is still broken, up until 5pm EDT on this day, will be left out until next release.

This does NOT mean that Avlis, or any other CoPaP world is patching to 1.66 this weekend. All CoPaP worlds will update to 1.66 on their own schedules. All CoPaP worlds will need to update their main, world specific, hakpak basing their modifications on the files from CoPaP Hak 4.5.

This is not the final or official announcement. Watch http://www.copap.org for further details.

Great. One step closer! Is there an estimate for when Avlis will release any necessary updates and finally make the switch?

Avlis (or any other copap world) cannot even begin working on its world specific hak till after the release of the above listed files.

Avlis is large, it has a lot of systems, each of which could be broken by the change in the hak and tlk files. The more things that break, the longer it will take to release the avlis hak. Untill it is seen how many things break, it is impossible to say how long it will take to fix them.

The new haks:

CoPaP Hak 4.5
Universal Hak 4.5
CoPaP TLK 3.5

were released 2-3 days ago. Does anyone really think EVERY system in Avlis has been tested, had code re-written and re-tested in just under two days? It will be a while, a LONG while before the systems are brought up to date. An announcement will be made when the Avlis haks are available. Please don't pester those Team Members who are hard at work updating. It will be done when it is done. Watch the boards for updates.

What is everyone's rush on this?

Team, take your time, nothing in the hak is so important that you need to rush it out and break existing things.

Thanks for your hard work on this and everything

From my personal perspective, the rush is I can't login. I play on another PW now (have been for a few months), but like to check in with Avlis every now and then and meet up with old friends. I understand that if I update I can't login, so that's how it is. And I don't condone bothering the team members about it either, as it only takes them away from their work.

It's just nice to know about when it will happen is all. :)

FYI - You can have both versions on your machine. Its been explained in several posts recently, including in this very post, snippet below.
i hate to break it to you, but its really easy to have 1.65 and 1.66 installed simultaneously on your machine. if its such a big deal to you.

I had 1.65 installed (i got a no-cd crack because i lost my play CD :-\ damn cats) i copied my nwmain.exe then i installed the 1.66 critical rebuild and that gave me a new nwmain.exe. so if i want to play on a 1.66 server i just use that exe, and if i want to play on a 1.65 server i use that exe.

I probably did a poor job of explaining that, but it works for me.

Easiest thing to do is downgrade your existing NWN to 1.65, then copy your NWN folder to a new folder like NWN165 or something, then reupgrade your original NWN folder back to 1.66. Make a new shortcut on your desktop that runs the NWN.EXE in the NWN165 folder and run whichever version you want depending on the server you're going to play on.
I've been doing it for some time and it works just fine.

Rumor has it that the upgrade won't happen before Aug 15th. But who can trust rumors?

Optimist,

It'll get there when it get's there. Can't wait t'ill we get there too though, or was it the other way around and we're there yet while they are still not there?.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO lost now, can't even find a car to lock myself in.

Silliness...

I hate coding, so I can understand the trying patience on those poor souls who are whoring themselves to get this done. We applaud your efforts, Team.

Call me too cautious but before I patch I always make a backup copy of the custom content. This actually includes all the screenshots I have saved in the NWN folder and these folders: local vault, portraits, TLK, HAK, docs..., override and maybe others I can't remember right now.

Also, for what it is worth, some of the CoPaP worlds have already upgraded to 1.66 (I think). What I do in that case is similiar to what is stated above: I have a seperate drive partician ... it has a different letter... its G: for "gaming" and I store the main game directory there v165 and upgrade the v166 on F: (another partician on my harddrive). The only trouble is you need to move your most recent pictures/screens/saved character files/logs/journals from V165 to V166 when you commit fully to V166.

Fair warning: if you try to use the auto patch from NWN be careful to rename the directory temporarily that contains the version of NWN that you don't want to patch... otherwise you might have an "opps". Then after the patch you can rename the backup version or you can just change the shortcut reference paths.

Don't forget to replace the original copy of Nwmain.exe if you use a NoCD crack before you update.

Edit: I have seen rumours that 1.66 does not require the CD anyway, as long as your CD Key is genuine. Can anyone confirm that yet please?

If you use the critical rebuild to upgrade to 1.66 you need the CD. Can't speak for the regular upgrade.

(I'm using dual builds. *dual sigh*)
