A wild looking tileset pack

Post by Bigdaddy037 » Mon Jun 27, 2005 4:09 pm

Out of curiosity, is there a reason that Avlis does not use a tileset hak like this http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Ha ... il&id=5762 to give the Team more options to build with? Is it download size?

Not download size but being nice for people with a PC with low RAM is why the team doesn't add too many haks AFAIK.

Also, that one doesn't look that good. It has a lot of stuff that would never get used. (who needs desert in deglos?)

Better just have two hak paks or something per server with things that fit the module like now.

There are multiple reasons we don't use combined haks, including module size, download size, hak management, and hak conflicts. We already have a lot of custom haks, plus all the CEP stuff... so adding in any new tilesets is more difficult than you'd think. As a result, we ONLY add individual haks when we know we'll use their features, and avoid all those combined haks, which a) have a lot of stuff we won't use in any given module, and b) honestly tend to be very sloppy work, meaning a lot more upkeep for us.

If the size of the hackpacks for a server start getting larger than your amount of system RAM, bad things start to happen. Before I got another 256 megs of ram, I had trouble even logging in to Deglos.
