The changes did not have a minimal impact, as Gimlor has pointed out.

Thankfully, the DLA team has made my job easier with a custom tool just for this problem.

As always, we do NOT give a release date on the updated hakpaks and subsequent patching of the servers.

It's done when it's done.

As Jordicus said, it wont be any sooner than at least 2 weeks.

Note to staff members: NOW is the time to start getting me the hak work that you are doing.

Despite patch problems, I think it's great that Bioware continues to support such an old game as NWN. How many others do that? :D

where do i find the 1.65 bio ware updates in my nwn folder

Post by downsystem » Mon Jun 20, 2005 8:08 pm

My computer took a dump and had to replace my motherboard so i need to reinstall nwn. Is there a way to save the bioware update files that i got in my nwn folder so that when i save the critical hack, erf's etc. files that i can just copy and paste them into there proper places in the nwn folder. Thus being able to bypass not being able to play on avlis till they get it updated to the new 1.66 bioware patch. Is it possible to do.

I think nearly all swords were set as Slashing & Piericing. Even though their in-game description said slashing. I believe The Avlis Team haked the 2da though to make it just slashing (otherwise the damage immunity bug would make Archer's Belts and their ilk protect against swords too). Hopefully, all these related things are now fixed in 1.66
Right. I fixed them a while back. All slashing/piercing weapons became slashing only. The morningstar became bludgeoning only. Themi and I have already talked about this. When we upgrade to 1.66, these changes will be in effect.

As for the spells changes...we'll do what we can to put those in as close to the update as possible.

Perhaps...but you would be missing registry entries which causes NWN to complain every time you start it up. You can however, just download the patches from NWN's site instead of using the patcher. That would keep you from getting 1.66.

There is one great undocumented feature of the 1.66 patch - the game does no longer require you to have the CD inserted to be able to play. Finally there is no need for additional no-CD patches to get rid of that annoying check on start up.

If Gim can't get them done in time, Greylynx has made leggy versions of all the Order robes as a back-up plan, just in case! We all hope you can get those robes to work though! Keep up the good work Gimlor! You've gone alot of amazing stuff!

This 1.66 patch has me a little confused. I wanted to introduce my daughter to Avlis, so I bought her a NWN Platinum set. Installed it, got in her app to Avlis, downloaded all the hakpaks. OK, ready to go...

...and nothing. Out of the box, the version is 1.63. Won't work. OK. Upgraded to 1.66, which won't work either, of course. Used the Bioware reverse patch 1.66 -> 1.65 which wouldn't function, though I followed the instructions to the letter.

Very frustrating! So, no new Avlis members until it gets upgraded to 1.66?

Try getting the critical rebuild for 1.65

I am surprised people haven't made a bigger deal of this bit, this is the first I have heard of it. Thats great, finally Atari relented and allowed Bioware to remove SecureRom.

The revert patch mentioned above is available at http://nwn.bioware.com

Not sure exactly where, as I've never had to revert. But I'm betting the 1.66 details would be a good start for looking. ;)

There is a revert patch to 1.65, see the above posts for details. Or, you can wait. It'll take a while for us to update our haks to be 1.66 compliant, but I can't give a precise date, I'm afraid. Themi can probably tell you more - he is the hak-master.

EDIT - Oh, and welcome to Avlis. :D

Grrr.. now that I have reinstalled the system and NWN and updated again, it seems the CD check is back to usual. Now I just need to figure out how I made it work without a CD before.

Sorry for bringing you false news and hopes. Bah. :?

Hi everyone!

I'm another of the new (post 1.66 update) people anxious to get in the game. I install the "Revert Patch" and get a little box saying it was successful and I'm back to 1.65. But when I try to run it, it crashes.

So, I completely deleted it and reinstalled, and it happened again.

Does anyone have any tips for reverting back? I have both of the expansions . . . does that mean I need three Revert Patches or just one?

I tried the one here marked "Hordes w/ Shadows" (http://nwn.bioware.com/support/patch_revert_hotu.html) Is this the only Revert Patch I need, or do I also need the Shadows Revert Patch here (http://nwn.bioware.com/support/patch_revert_sou.html) and the original Neverwinter Patch here (http://nwn.bioware.com/support/patch_revert.html)?

Any assistance would be appreciated! Thanks!
~Flippy

EDIT:

Nevermind ... I got it to work :)

If anyone else sees this in the future and needs a hand, just patch to 1.66, use the one Revert Patch.... and if it crashes, go here and install this patch. http://files.filefront.com/NWNHotU_Engl ... einfo.html

Worked for me! So everyone keep a look out for a friendly, if *completely* lost, elf maiden in Mikona named Allywen!

Whenever you want. You just won't be able to play on Avlis is all :)

The new haks will get done... when they get done. We always wait awhile to upgrade because upgrading invariably breaks stuff. For a rough estimate, in the past it's been 1-2 months between the patches coming out and Avlis upgrading.
