RAVE: IceThorn and his hordes of ... everything

Post by Bigdaddy037 » Mon Jun 13, 2005 7:56 pm

Icethorn ... YOU ROCK!
I have been playing Avlis for a bit over a year now, and you gave me one of the most memorable playing times ever! Hordes of undead, bugs, more undead, invisible vampires (as if the normal wants aren't hard enough) .... blowing up of caves ... before we can even get a good drink in us to "celebrate" ... undead from the sea, creatures from the sea, Orcs the like I have not seen before, more undead, a shadow that made the invisible vampire look like a dead person ... and that was just half of it

I was on for 8 hours .... and I missed the beginning AND end!
My wife wont even talk to me now.
Wife: Come to bed ..
Me: no, can't you see this vampire is whipping us right now ..
Wife: uh, honey, you need your sleep ...
Me: but, cant you see this wall of fire skeletons are setting people
on FIRE ...
Wife: its a game!
Me : A GAME, just a ... oh, uh .. DAMN, look at what you did, I just got DP'd!
Wife: Good Night!
This was at mighnight local time and I was on for another 4 hours

I vote Icethorn "Sleep Greiver of the Year!!"

For you Bob & Tom Radio Show listeners, they should make the skit ... for those who would rather *Play Avlis* then have sex, cause I have a feelling I am not getting any for a while.

Best time i had in Avlis, ever!

played 9 straight hours on Friday/Saturday... about 6 hours on Saturday/Sunday and I left early!

this copied from Rants and Raves...
strickp wrote:HUGE RAVE to IceThorn for a completely immersive, awe-inspiring, nervewracking, nail-biting good time in Ferrell last night! I cannot rave enough about this guy!

2.0 Not DPing very many people despite a huge level spread
3.0 The way it all started... totally unexpected
4.0 Taking the time during all the battles to give individual attention
5.0 Showing me the best time I've had on Avlis yet
6.0 doing it for hours
It was at least a 6-8 hour event. I joined in a few hours into it and was still falling-over-my-keyboard asleep at 4 am, logging out and still not finished.

Ice, you completely utterly rock. Avlis DMs rock! I'm just still all giggly and stuff.

*whispers* promote him, promote him.....
AND THEN he did it again the next night!

I broke 2 keyboard keys this weekend

After staying up until 2AM Friday... I said to the wife "Oh don't worry, that's a once in a great while event... It was a big deal for my teammates and I..."

Then the next night I stumbled to bed at 2:30AM

When an event has you look and say "Oh man...it's almost 11PM...." that's good. When it has you say "OH CRAP IT'S 2 IN THE MORNING!" while thinking "hmm must be close to 11...."

Icethorn pwns.

Thaylis Beign: Morgan, did you cast recitation?
Morgan Thornheart: Yes
Thaylis Beign: *nods*
Morgan Thornheart: Aarilax blesses you all. Now get the fuck out of here.

Heh, I stumbled to bed at 3:00am and the event was still going strong.

The wife just looked up at me shook her head and rolled over, but I made up for it with major brownie points the next day. She even said something to the effect of, this is earning you time on the computer.

Aw come on you pansies....

I stayed up til nearly 5 am both nights!

Seriously, IceThorn -- WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

This was the best damned time I've had on Avlis. To see those walls of skeletal warriors pouring out of the lower levels of the Rifts, I swear I squeaked and wanted to turn and run myself!

No one else could have made me wet my pants laughing and crap them in fright, all in the space of a moment's turning....

You totally, utterly ROCK!

I voted yes for myself. I was up until 0530 Friday night/Saturday morning (after working all day) then until about 0400 Saturday night/Sunday morning. Luckily for me & everyone else, my wife's classes started again & she was studying/sleeping the whole weekend leaving me free to wreak havoc on Ferrell!

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the fun. I also want to thank Doug, Tissa, and everyone else on the Team who've been fixing code to allow the servers to work. I was SOOO happy Ferrell worked! It didn't crash, & the lag was much better than usual for 20 PCs fighting 30 undead!

Thirty undead? Were you sleep-DMing? I WISH it were just thirty. Add a few more zeroes, buddy.

So basically what you're saying is this: the entire fate of Ferrell and its inhabitants depends solely on your wife????

I played Friday. Was one of the group that was chased out of the rift we thought oh thats cool dm giving us a little shake up. Thought it was over 10 times and they just kept coming out of the woodwork, water, air, hill, my arse. Finally got permission to go to bed 8-9 hours later of continuous fighting with some heavy RP throughout. Really fun and nicely done. I remember thinking the whole time my god Ferrell is not lagging or crashing not even once I remember. Good job and thanks again.

I have had the pleasure of walking in on two of IceThorn’s events, and I have nothing but praise for his style. He tends toward delving into the story and individual character involvement, which can easily forgotten or eclipsed in such a large world by an administrative mindset or worrying about the cold world mechanics of PW balance. This is all the while making it fun for all. That’s what I call talent.

I’m still cracking up about when Rhiss laid down on the floor and went to sleep after stepping over that epic frost trap. I hope you’re having fun, IceThorn! It was a great event.

*_* I so wish I could get Feril back to Avlis and in on these events, but she's stuck on Hala now. Sure, I get a couple of personal plots and custom items, but no hoards of undead. *cries*

I just hit the last part of it on the first night. Came by to get a bit of comfry and what did I get........well almost DP'd 2 or 3 times, luckily people kept healing me up.

Wish I had stumbled over a lot sooner.
I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello?), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice-mail. What did you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

You wanna see funny? Try when the demi-liches came flying in, Wailed and I think... Rhiss, myself and Caliph survived. Nothing like seeing your entire party go DP... from surrounded by friends to surrounded by bodies in one quick VFX moment. I'm sitting there going "man I hope someone has the oops rod..."

of course the not-a-demi-lich-but-has-wail-anyway thing got me later on. Sure, I save the DC 34 demi but fail the DC 29 whateveritwas...

I don't have the fancy-shmancy spells. I just get my cookies for the bad jokes, reacting to situation in some outrageous form... and the typical wiseass Grunt comments :D

...oh because of the above behavior, I also get hit by lightning, have searing flame lines chase me down the hall, and other acts of god not covered by my insurance.

Had pleasure of being there 8-9 hours in both nights(that's all of it, with exception of 20 minute break in first night). Thank you IceThorn, that was just awesome!

That was my first Major DM event. It was awesome. I missed the start, but managed to hang for the rest of it. It was great, what is planned for the encore?
