Not really sure what you mean by "effective" here, but they can be as powerful or weak as any other race. it depends on the build.

most of the time, yes, but once again, it depends on the build. I know for a fact thet there are at least two active on Avlis now that couldnt fight their way out of a paper bag

One other minor point as well. Making a powerfull character doesnt always make for an interesting playing experience. I have 2 wemic characters. One is a powerhose that can easily go solo through areas intended for fair sized groups of his level or higher. The other is one of those that I mentioned above, he can just about survive alone in areas meant for people about half his level. This second one gets played with far more often.

I have started playing a Wemic recenetly. I must say, I like my wemic a lot. Being very strong right from the start makes fighting and resourse gathering much more eaiser tasks and even fun. Equiping a two-handed weapon with a shield is also really cool. Since I had all those ability bonues, I was able to put more into con, dex and intelligence. I will probably become a barb/mage at some time, but for now, am pure melee figter developing his crafting skills too.

It is also fun role-playing my wemic. I roll the rrrrrr's and the ssss's which give my guy a distinct character. He is just bouncy, bouncy, like Trigger (from Winnie the Poo) in having lots of energy and enthusiam for nearly everything he sees. Had a great time partied up with an older, wiser, Paladin the other day. I felt like the young kid with the wise old warrior. Great RP by the Lem if you read this. I have seen complaints about too many wemics, but I am in Mikona and have yet to see another in about 1 week of gaming, some of which during prime time.

The only down side is of course, your ECL levels. They are a bit of a hinderance, in HP's and to a lessor extent, feats. I am approaching 10,000 exp, and if I was a cleric or mage, would be getting third level spells. As it is, I am just approaching 2nd level barb. My Barb Wemic only has one chosen feat. But, you do get the Alertness feat free, nice by itself and helps you if you want to be a shifter. Course, a Wemic is as strong and better fighter than most shifter shapes. Overall, the ECL's are balanced and I have no complaints.

I think we Wemics need to start a Wemic Guild. That would be something, an entire party of Adventures of all Wemics, the RP possibilties in other areas, and just infomation exchange and fun. My Wemic does not have the CHR to start something like this, but I can be an able supporter.

As far as I can tell, not all of us come into the cities all that much. Your chances of finding someone might be better in Elysia though.

We feel your pain. There actually are a few wemic mages out there

this has been attempted before, but it had a poor turnout. The biggest gathering of wemics Ive seen so far in one place is 3 of us. sounds like it might be time to try again.

I love playing my Wemic! and it seems the others around me enjoy it to, just ask Trenton. I am rarely in any of the cities, usually in the wilderness at this point.

I've made 4 levels in Barbarian and 5 in Sorcerer, which gets interesting. I'll be like level 24 and have to put all my extra points into CHR for now on to be able to cast high level spells. I decided to focus on sorcerer more for artificing, cause thats what my character likes to do: craft and create more than fight.

Best part is, like you said, being able to carry so much. With buffs i can get my str upto 37. Can carry a lot of stuff with that kind of str. Seems i've been apointed the defacto gatherer in all my adventuring parties.

Wemic gatherings sound like fun, I've only ever seen 3 wemic at one spot, and one of those was Gr'rrr so he doesn't count, but expect alot of negativitiy from other players, i've noticed a few tend not to like us, and blame us for lag on their computers anytime we come into sight. I just think their jealous. :P

Pffft... Wemic, just like gnomes and any other race is about character, not stats.

If you come into it min-maxing and play another wemic meathead, I swear, you will hate it. Put some effort into it,go that extra mile to make yourself not just a four-legged rabid killing machine; and I promise, you will enjoy the character more.

Hehe I have an Alt char wemic, turned a few heads carrying a bow most of the time and wearing studded leather. Not the classic wemic melee monster and he is fun to play.

Ahh memmories.... 3 half ogres running around trying to pull his tail, for half an hour they were searching for him only to finaly see he was standing in the middle of their search pattern whispering to a couple of people
