Disarming things

Post by Tigg » Wed May 18, 2005 8:21 pm

Disarm in Avlis: anyone have this feat and know if it is useful?

I do not mean for CvC, I actually do not get into that too much (possibly because I usually lose... but that's a different issue ;) ).

As far as I understand it though the monsters with weapons must be flagged to have disarmable and no-drop, that sort of thing. I remember on where I played before the feat became no good after some Bioware update or another, and then slowly they got around to flagging monsters properly.

So.. anyone know? Is it a feat that will work here, against the monsters with weapons?

Thanks

:) :)

I think its more likely to work in CvC than against monsters...many are still tagged no disarm and changing that requires editing of the NPC (read: time consuming) if you do succeed in disarming an NPC the weapon will most likely go to its inventory rather than drop

Everything was disarmable, then Bioware screwed it up and nothing was. Now pretty much everything is disarmable again. There are some things that aren't still but its definitely worth taking Disarm and Imp Disarm. Takes a while before it really becomes useful though.

Requires a high level fighter type to be really effective, and then only on humanoid enemies who wield weapons. Pretty devastating in CvC though, especially places like the WZ, where nearly everything is humanoid. Not so useful against things like demons, elementals, etc.

EDIT: P.S. May want to avoid on PC's in high, high lag situations - the server may crash before the player can recover his item, and then it's gone.

*wishes those Crypt Things were disarmable...*

But being this is a Mahagony Shortbow, the most powerful craftable bow on Avlis, and would blow your head clean off, you got to ask yourself one question... Do I feel lucky. Well, do ya fiend?"

If the disarmed PC doesn't save his character before he can recover his weapon, he'll be fine even if the server crashes. A different issue is that under severe lag, disarmed weapons not always will appear on the ground.
