In your main folder, open nwn.ini look for the following:
[Display Options]
FullScreen=0
AllowWindowedMode=1
If you are missing either of these, just add them in or change as appropriate. If you still have problems after this, you can try pressing Alt+Enter. Sometimes I have to change my resolution, exit, then run NWN again for it to be in windowed mode.

Is that strictly lower, or lower than or equal to?

true enough but I find it better to have the window just slightly lower.. this way I can cut n paste text from text files if needed (very useful in guilds that have long ceremonies to avoid typing)Espy wrote:But I'm thinking, that would be a windowed full screen, so you could, like, drag it around. It would be neat to have the taskbar visible, but have full-screen NWN on a virtual desktop.

I did a search of all my folders on every partition i got and didnt find it. Would having nvn's platinum dvd edition have anything to do with not having that folder? Ok since i dont have it where can i find it, any of you got any ideas.

You enter your NWN folder, you find the nwn.ini file.downsystem wrote:I did a search of all my folders on every partition i got and didnt find it. Just a text editor, like Notepad. Watch out though, it might save it as nwn.ini.txt instead of just nwn.ini. You might have to change the filename (in WinXP, the .ini icon is a piece of paper with 3 dots and lines, and a pencil).
I don't see how NWN could run without the file though. It's what holds all the game options, like resolution, directory location, etc. I have one--I'm using NWN Platinum (CD edition)--If you'd like, I can send you mine (it's just over 1 KB in size), but you'll probably have to re-do options.
edit: actually, that might not be the right icon in default WinXP. I forgot I have different icons.
edit II: here's what part of my NWN directory looks like:

its called nwn.ini not nvn.ini but i trust that was a type.
in the nwn.ini you will have a header that says
[Display Options]
if the AllowWindowedMode=1 line is not there just add it in below the last line of the [display options] section. to clarify the line should be -
AllowWindowedMode=1
hope this helps.

Heh, ironic that you typoed "typo."longbow wrote:its called nwn.ini not nvn.ini but i trust that was a type.
But to your point, the mistake was repeated, so I am not so sure it was indeed a typo.
downsystem-
You will have a file called nwn.ini in there. If you are having trouble browsing to it, do a search of the drive that has the program installed on it (most likely C: - make sure you're not just searching your Start Menu) and search for "*.ini" (without the quotes). You'll get a bunch of hits, but scroll through them and you will find nwn.ini. If you insert those lines of code into another .ini file, it will not work.
Good luck.

well thanks for all your help, it turns out my version of the nvn.ini file was only called (nvn) and i got it all fixed up in windowed mode and i must say its ten thousand times better then that switching back and forth crud i was doing before. I couldnt multi task with my computer while playing like i wanted to and now i can. Why the heck do they leave them options out of the game .
