Divine Damage on Logon or Server transitions
Noticed something for quite a while with my character and accepted it as just part of the game until I started to talk to a few other players. On an average my character receives anywhere from 1 to 24 HP damage when logging in or transitioning from server to server about 80% of the time. My character is not a 15th level Ghost Elf monk with lawful good alignment with a Deity of O?ma. On the transition or log in the message appears that ?Someone damaged Someone for xx points of Divine Damage?. I scanned the bug list and found nothing about divine damage and only two old thread that indicated it was a problem in 2003. Unlike these problems my character is fully rested and has all her HP in tact when the damage occurs. Wouldn?t be too bad on transition if I always had enough HP before hand and have made sure of this for a while now.
That is giving you the damage back you had the last time your character was saved. Originally upon transitioning you would get all spells and HP back and everyone thought this could be abused. So they fixed it so that you could not use as expoit and make more realistic.

Hi,
I believe this happens to all chars (at least to mine) because the server stores the amount of HP you had when you left the server the last time. This is how I think it works and being just a simple player I may be entirely wrong of course
. So if you have 30 HP leave the wilderness, get some rest in Mikona and log back to the wilderness you get the amount of damage that sets your total HP back to 30.

Yup, that's what's happening. It also keeps people logging out when dying and coming back with full hit points.
If you are receiveing damage when you transition between servers and your hit points were full on the previous server, then this is a bug and you should report it by using the Bug Tracker link above.

Ummm....people. She's not hurt before transitioning servers. Just after.
I'd say it's a bug. Either with the custom race 'Ghost Elf' in this case, or with the character itself (in the bic file).
I'm not a coder though, and deffinately can't see what's going on the server side. *shrugs and does her best announce voice* Back to you bob.....

Divine Damage on Logon or Server transitions
I will do a little more detailed testing based upon some of the sugggestions posted here. I will rest before exiting which I usually do anyway and this should set my character to all defaults. I noticed this most often while entering Le'Or so I can just keep going up and down the lift from the wilderness with variations on saving and exiting at the locations and see if any pattern developes. About the only enhansements this char uses is speed potion and bull strength from a ring. Thanks for the suggestions and if I can or cannot establish a pattern over the next several days I will reply. If it persists I will put in a bug report also.
I got hit for 14 hp when I logged or portaled into the wilderness for a few times lately. I made sure I was at full health when logging and even saved location before leaving, just in case, but it happened from time to time.
Hasn't happened much the past few days but I do get hit for some random damage sometimes. I'll give it a little more testing too.

I've never had it go wrong. With my character it seems to work fine. However, enough people seem to be claiming that is doesn't always work, so maybe there is something. So, can I suggest that for those people that are claiming problems, that they provide more information, e.g.
character name (e.g. in past there has been problems with names with apostrophes)
character's race
which server did you transition to/from
dates & times
etc.
Maybe there is some common thing, like you are all ghost elves, or it always happens when transitioning to Ferrell server or something...?

I believe that it does have to do with the condition your char was in when they left the server, the hit points, active spells and weight carried all seem to revert when going back to a server....ie. the getting slowed thing is also a part of the same save, but only if you were over your weight limit when leaving the server.
I will investigate it a bit when i get a chance, and add comments to any bug report, or make a new one if appropriate.

It happened to my character for a day or so, when ever he portaled he would get hit for 23 points of divine damage.
No matter if he rested, healed, saved, logged.
That was the exact damage I had taken when the server crashed just before it started, so I figured it was a database clitch. It went away the next day (RL)

Right, in my experience:
If you're on one server, and have Endurance active, giving you addtional HP, and portal to another server, you're fine. However, if you come back to the server you had Endurance on, after the effect has ended, but before the server has reset, you will take the amount of HP the con bonus was giving you in damage - As I use Empowered Endurance a lot, I've been smacked upside the head for 80% of my character's HP more than once.
Annoying, but nothing that can't be solved by resting. I think it's because it takes the HP you have when portalling as your current HP - so if you portal off a server with Endurance active, and come back with it off, it sees that you have less HP than you did when you left, assumes you're injured, and applies the difference as damage.
