Download Haks and Get Ready for 1.64

Post by Mistcaller » Sat Nov 06, 2004 3:10 pm

Since we are getting close to the upgrade, please make sure you have downloaded all necessary haks:

Two Important Things:
1. There was a change to universalhak_4_3 since the first release (correct file has size ~9.2 MB).
More here... http://www.copap.org/viewtopic.php?t=782

2. You should have avlis_main1_0.hak, in order to be able to login to avlis servers.

CoPaP Hak 4.3 (~220Kb): http://www.tairisnadur.com/files/copap/copaphak4_3.rar
Universal Hak 4.3 (~9.21 MB): http://www.tairisnadur.com/files/copap/ ... ak_4_3.rar
CoPaP TLK 3.4 (~102Kb): http://www.tairisnadur.com/files/copap/copaptlk_3_4.rar
Avlis Main 1.0 (~52Kb): see mirror below

Europe mirror
http://195.169.215.21/cgi-bin/avlis.py? ... S2/hakpaks

Also you must upgrade to CEP 1.50 (better download the .exe file - 26.7 MB)
http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/hakpacks/d ... 0000.shtml

The upgrade will happen soon (next couple of days), but please dont ask for an exact time yet. We'll keep you informed. :)

I might be doing something wrong, but I can't get to the ftp site. I downloaded it instead from the european mirror, which works fine for anyone else experiencing the same problem.

In the words of Ju'rash the fool, "Most excellent... Most excellent indeed." He later went on to write the first draft of a movie about a band and a time-travelling phone booth, but I digress. 'Nice work'is the point I am trying to get across.

Is this a cryptic reference to Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure?

Ok, I'm a computer idiot, so I need this sort of stuff explained to me like I'm a...well, computer idiot.

Clearly, since I've been playing in Avlis, I already have everything I need now. So there's nothing I need to do before the servers update, right?

Once the servers update, I need to go to each link above and download the new version of each hak, is that right?

Thanks in advance.

You can dowload the files, uncompress and add them in your hak directory (.tlk to tlk directory), even before the upgrade, since they dont overwrite anything or effect your gameplay in any way.

So there is no problem in installing the haks files?
What about the CEP? can it be installed as well?

When I click on the links for downloading the haks, I just get a page filled with a bunch of gibberish, such as:

Also you must upgrade to CEP 1.50 (better download the .exe file - 26.7 MB)
http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/hakpacks/d ... 0000.shtml
What do you mean by "better"? Are there different options for upgrading CEP 1.50?

I believe CEP can be installed without problem, but cant be 100% sure, so you'd better wait on this one.

There is a .zip file and one more, that have been reported to be corrupted.

Does the CEP auto-installer executable work for people with NWN not on the C: Drive please? Do we get a choice of drive or does it find the correct drive and folder and prompt for this?

Apart from the CEP, I can confirm that the other HAKs and the TLK can be installed without affecting play on the servers as they are now - except for Tairis'nadur of course - which is already updated.

Not tried the Patch yet of course - that is always the risky one. :?

It finds the correct drive and folder automatically, but it prompts too for the NWN folder just in case.

Having the CEP 1.50 hasn't affected the apparent gameplay for me.... I think it's safe to patch. I'm not what you'd call an expert tester though, as I try to shy away from dangerous places*. Just thought my guinea-pigging might be of some use.

When I first joined Avlis I had to install only two files, the Avlis HakPack installer and the CEP. Obviously the new CEP is listed above, but is there a Full installer for all of the requeired Haks yet? I know I only need a couple, but I have two friends with Platinum editions that are waiting to join after this upgrade, and I'd love to have all the requirements on a CD waiting for them. And they're not exatly computer experts, so...

P.S. They both actually bought NWN specifically to play Avlis. Thanks for making a great game unbelievably awesome guys!

Can someone please fix the web link for the Avlis Main Hak update??

I would rather get the regular version than have to get the european version.

Thanks, Defender

They are both the same, just its a second site for people to download, if they have trouble with the first one.

How are you versioning these haks? I mean, all the new ones are appeneded "4_3" and the old versions have "4_2".

Since the actual file names have changed I would guess we can ditch the old "4_2" ones since they would no longer be associated with the modules. The "4_3" ones look like replacements and not patches to the "4_2" ones.

Simply put, did you associate the "4_3" haks with the modules and remove the "4_2" ones from the module list?

Thanks.

I'm assuming that those of us who are allready able to login don't need to re-download / re-install this hak... Correct, or have there been modifications to this file as well?
