Good choices for Alternative characters

Post by loki70 » Sat Oct 16, 2004 1:48 am

My main character is a monk, but I wanted to play something different. Any suggestions on a good alt. I have a fighter that was doing well, but I screwed up a lot of his starter stuff, and the character himself just wasn't growing on me the way my monk is.

Sounds like a question for another forum, since it isn't really about Monks or Psions.

Was kinda hoping for the perspective of people whose primary character is a monk. But you are right. NM.

Wizard, Sorcerer or Bard

your already playing melee, should play the other side of the coin for an alternate character

just me 2 cents . . .

Hmm... bards are meleers too. Perhaps not so combat oriented as clerics but i wouldn't toss them with wizards and sorcerers either. Just take a look at their rather limited spell selection and you'll see lots of stuff suitable for a spellsword type.

*cough*
Pirate!
*cough*

If your main is a fairly straight-up, serious character, it's fun to play something a little more light-hearted every now and then. And the band is always looking for more pirates

My first character was a monk for the simple reason that it was easier to start with for me (no tricky spell list to manage).

Then I grew bored with him and I created an elven druidess. Wow ! That was my first experience at RPing a female ! I've had a load of fun with her. :D

So why not just experiment ? What about creating a Warrior Maiden of Dre'Ana ? A paladin of Gorethar ? A druid of Dru'El ? A cleric of Maleki ?

I think the class is only a a small part of the fun factor with a character. There are micro worlds all over Avlis formed by communities of players and getting to explore and enjoy them is simply a blast ! :D

Just my 2 cents. ;)

*Wonders what group his next char will be a member of... Ebonies, Warrior Maidens or Alpha Corps ?*
Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow, who knows ?

What I came up with for an alt was a multi-classed sorc/fighter. The reasons for this was that I wanted something that my monk was not, so I went the opposite direction. Monks don't generally use weapons (they are weapons), so a fighter was a good option there, and easier to customize. I also kinda missed the spell-chucking of a magic class. I haven't joined any guilds, but I am kinda interested in one of the Mikonan groups (haven't picked which one yet, either pirates (Arrr) or one of the towers). Basically this is my compromise on being a bard, but without all the hassles

I'm guessing an evil character would work. I mean, everyone has an evil side. It's sometimes fun after a long day's work to sit back, relax, and scheme/take part in the destruction of something.

I made an alt recently to my monk and absolutely love the new guy. I made a changeling, which gives me the oportunity to play just about anything you can point at. Good, evil, two or four legged, child or decrepid, tiny or huge (with some xp), and so on.
The flexibility is really wonderful.

May not be for all, but as an alt, I think its perfect! Its like 100 alts in one.
