I have heard that death attack is int based, so that DC can get very high if one is a smart assasin. Who would ever make a smart assasin? I mean come on, seriously, all the best assasins are strong, fast, idiots. What sence would it be if the smart ones that are the most effective?
That is my opinion, not nessasarily anyone else's opinon, might just be, but that would be a coincodence, and damnit, sometimes the crap I write is not even my opinion either.
This is necessarily true. Equipment slots are precious and if you have a dex stealth based character it is extremly hard to give up any of em. My fort is +6 at 15th level only becuase of a ranger level. BOth will and fort are weak points for me specially will at a measly 3.Also, almost nobody will have a fortitude of 6 at level 20. Those classes have just too few hit points and many will try to get a decent CON score, not to mention that most people will try to wear some gear with bonuses to saves. Besides, i am not sure about this but chances are that the spellcraft bonus to saves is applied against death attack and that would be another +4/+6 at level 20 (depending on INT score).

My assassin has a high int. I guess death attack's about 'know how' rather than the strength of the arm behind the force.WrathOG777 wrote:I have heard that death attack is int based, so that DC can get very high if one is a smart assasin. The protection vs evil and protection vs mind spells based against the death attack by the PrC is supposed to be fixed in the upcoming patch or that is what the word I've heard is. I hope so anyways.
If you want a molded PK character though, I think you'd find a better build someplace other than this . I personally like the rp generated by it though. I think most of the assassin characters do.
It works like Monk attacks, (Stunning Fist and Quivering Palm) but with Int instead of Wis... as such, if you had enough Int items, you really can jack that DC way the hell up there... plus it'll compensate for the reduced skillpoints as compared to a Rogue... you could even cross-class in something like... oh... I dunno... Taunt...VETT SCALES L7 wrote:My assassin has a high int. Heh. I was asking for the opposite reason: To strike someone with a Death Attack to send a message but not finish them off. The question about duration really involves how long, if in an area with hostiles or potential spawns, they will be helpless.Fire Monkey wrote:Tried it in a mod when it first came out and with a low level assassin and it went on for a very long time. Seemed permanent to me. At least if it wasn't it was long enough that if you hadn't killed someone by the time it wore you really had no business in attacking them in the first place.
Thanks.

I tend to agree with Vett here. The best assassins are supposed to be methodical, cunning killers rather than Mafia-type knee breakers. Hence the familiarity with poisons, hence the ability to make use of a spell like Darkness. My assassin has at least moderately high int, and to be honest, he did before I ever took the Assassin class or even knew DC was an Int based skill. And like Vett said, it's all about the RP.VETT SCALES L7 wrote:My assassin has a high int. To answer Mod's question (at least partially) it lasts a long, long, long time. If you paralyze someone in an area where things can respawn, they will respawn before your paralyzee recovers. I know from messing around in single player that even a low level assassin who gets lucky and freezes a monster he can only hit on Crits still has plenty of time to finish the job.

Fire Monkey wrote:Actually I reckon that paralysing someone indefinitely would be a lot more fun/worse that killing them. You could turn them to stone as well for good measure.
Imagine how pissed off you would be having your pc stood their solid for a few hours before anyone found them.
A little more punitive than the simple kill, yes.

But I would never do that. Oh no, never....

Sounds like an MIT prank: Paralyze Birbag and dump him in the OoG hostel.Fire Monkey wrote:It would be even better if you could paralyse then shift them into uncompromising positions or dress them up in womens clothes, bright pink flowery frocks, that kind of thing. Ah the humiliation could be endless.
I'm not sure who would be more mortified.

It's all about paralyzing then emoting
*pees on victim's leg*
then
*does a little dance*
then leaving, so they think you're gone, restealthing, cmoing back and nailing them again, then
*kicks them really hard, repeatedly, in the junk*
then
*slaps them across the face several times*
then
*yawns*
then leave again.
... only to come back 5 minutes later and finish them off.

Good point. Because when I carry out an assassination, I like to do so in the light of day, undisguised, and leave a scribed note, including inn, room number, and the time you're most likely to find me.Enverex wrote:I would actually hire someone to kill them and Dry loot them if they ever did that, but heh, thats just me

Too bad you do all that, otherwise you'd be able to accept the job of killing and drylooting yourself. Easiest coin you'd ever make.modigliani wrote:Good point.
