Marriage Dogmas

Post by Rain&Clouds » Sun Oct 03, 2004 8:48 am

I am pretty sure that isn't the right name, but I wanted to know if any churches on Avlis have any dogmas concerning marriages?

For instance, not being able to get married in white unless you are unspoiled? (I just -had- to use this word  )

What about customs regarding races (or even churches) like the something old/new/borrowed/blue thing? Perhaps Avlissan elves have their own thing, or maybe if you marry in a church of Dru'El you can not have pigtails, that sort of thing :)

I know these are probably dumb questions but I was curious about it

Well, if you're an elf, the groom's family is supposed to give the other groom's family a gift of something pink. :-P

From the info threaad about Kelvos:
It is customary for a lovers to make an offering to him. This offering is to appease him, and it is said that, if the offering pleases him, he will leave the couple alone.
The proper offering should be made by the woman, at night, and should
consist of: a flower, a bottle of wine, a suit of fine clothing, and a
small gem or gems (value to be about 30-50gp).
She enters the shrine alone, place the items in the bin, and then
kneels, make a short prayer then backs out of the shrine.

If there is any marriage dogma in the faith of Cha'reth, it is something that will still have to be thought up :)

Hmm.... so I guess I can blame her that I betrayed? "Not my fault, she pissed of Kelvos." ... ... ... hmm ... don't think that one works.
Here's to a long life and a merry one, a quick death and an easy one, a pretty girl and an honest one, a cold pint and another one!
