Upcoming Avlis Downtime

Post by Jordicus » Sun Sep 26, 2004 4:18 am

Just letting you know now that within the next few weeks, Avlis will be down for a few days in order to move the servers to a different location. We are only waiting on a confirmation of service installation before we set a firm date.

This will be the first step in many upgrades to Avlis that have been in the planning for quite some time now.

We'll keep you more informed as details are confirmed.

I'd like to thank all the team members who worked hard to get the new infrastructure in place. That was a lot of effort and a big commitment both in conception and physical labor. We appreciate it tremendously.

Everyone be sure to give the following worlds a visit when this happens.
The following are the CoPaP worlds that I know to be playable at this time. If I miss one, be sure to add it.

I will not give out exact portal locations. Find out IC. :P

For the record, Avlis has not broken any portals in a technical sense. The only portal to and from Avlis that is currently down was down on purpose, for a reason. The link was causing an Avlis server to crash. This was discussed elsewhere.

Although Downtime is not a good thing to plan after yesterday, we all know the reason for this particular occasion.

I know we are all eagerly awaiting and looking forward to the New Era(TM), when all will be well and stable and lag-free.

On behalf of all those who would have liked to help but were too far away to do so and any who would have been to idle to do so anyway, I would like to thank all those who have worked so hard to set this up - especially PJ of course, without whom........

I noticed all the servers are down now, has this taken effect already, or is it a coincidence?

Thanks

query about downtime

Post by Wokman » Mon Sep 27, 2004 2:57 am

does this mean we should be clearing out our rooms so that we don't have problems with not paying rent on time? Only just got my room on sunday and am yet to pay for my first month. If this is not a problem then that is fine, just I don't know how it works yet.

you have 90 days to pay your inn rent, it just gets backdated. Keep your inn room.

If avlis is down for more than 90 days, then i am sure inns will be the least of the problems, but something will be done to sort them out.

You've got a fair time to pay rent - several weeks, so unless theree's a major problem you should be OK.

So would this be the aforementioned downtime we're experiencing now, or is the fact that all servers appear to be down just an unrelated coincidence?

all servers are up, and as I said in the earlier post, I will give you an exact date and length of time when it's been confirmed.

at the most, it should be no more than a few days of downtime, so it should not drastically affect everyone.

Yeah it would be good to know the exact dates,

I can check into rehab while I'm having game withdrawls....

I wonder how this will affect the local mini-mart, you know, when I don't go there for setting myself up for game munchies, pop and butts.

cheers,

As a normal avlis player I will be a tad upset about the servers going down, but do not despair!! During the down time we will be trying to entice people to the fantastic land that is Tairis nadur. All are welcome and we hope to have a hella lot of Dms and such stuff gong on - so dont threat help is on the way.

This is great! I know there are some wonderful changes going to happen including the wilderness and mikona getting on their own faster servers.

Is there anyplace that sums up all changes taking place? I could do a search but am pretty lazy compared to others specially the team (actually a search would bring up way too much for my little brain to handle).

Not at this time. Some of the details have not been finalized. Who knows, when all is said and done, we may post pictures of the new server room.

I love the title of this thread: Upcoming downtime... Heh.

That would actually be quite interesting (the planned changes, ... not the server room pics). Would be nice to know what we can expect from Avlis post downtime. I remember reading about connection upgrades a while ago, so am presuming that this is what this downtime is for.

Has the move already started? Seems to me there's been an unusual amount of down time across the board in the past few days.

I have decided to treat these small outages like a series of jabs to allow us to build up a resistance before the big move - luckily my sister isn't around to give me the equivalent of a punch in the arm like she did when I had my BCG injection as a kid :)
