My application was accepted, but....i can't log in

Post by SmurfyBlues » Mon Sep 20, 2004 6:40 pm

I just received my acceptance to my application today. I was overjoyed until I tried to join the Avlis server Elysia...

I copy/pasted the direct link with the correct port #, and copy pasted the password i was given. I click to connect and it says "invalid password." So i tried that one a few more times, with no luck.

So i decided to try the other newbie Avlis server Le'Or T'Nanshi. I put in the port # and copy pasted the PW....

Nothing...."invalid password".

Someone please help? =(

either PM me or you can e-mail me naberrulz7@hotmail.com

Thanks

PS-I tried all of the Avlis servers with the passwords I was given...none of them worked and the last message I received was "you are BANNED" -- i'm assuming it banned me because of the unsuccessful passwords.....please help! =(

if you copy and paste in windows, it has a tendency to put an extra space at the end, and the banning will only last until the next server reset

And hello
<Fuzz> thankfully, no one quotes me
<GairusWHO> I think so... but don't quote me on that.

Make sure you didn't grab a space with the copy/pasted password.

Also, I think I've had problems copying/pasting the password before; try just typing it in (make sure you use the right case, as the passwords are case-sensitive).

It works, honestly, you must be doing something wrong, please re-check. Also see the Newbie FAQ it has a very large section on just this type of problem (it's probably the 2nd most asked question).

I promise, I do know how to type a direct link and a password. I am currently at work, but when i return home I am going to try and manually find the server and connect to it that way incase my direct connect link was somehow wrong or I had that wrong.

I know a lot of people like to use the direct connect link, but I prefer to use Gamespy. Mainly because it lets me get an idea of how the servers are "pinging".
Using that, I can almost always tell when a server is crashing or is trying to come back after a crash ( and always get irritated when I see the server come back up, and theres always one pinhead immediately trying to log in, then the server will say -1 or 1500 ping, just before it blinks out again)

I just put all the avlis servers in my favorites list, so I don't have to scroll through the menus.Of course, not all of the CoPap servers show up in Gamespy. Then again, most of those servers are linked to in game, so no biggie.
