Keen Senses

Post by Malathyre » Thu Sep 09, 2004 5:07 pm

Lately, I've been having my doubts as to whether this feat is working properly. Has anyone tested it recently? If so, does it work with spot, listen, and search?

Thanks in advance.

supposedly, you're making the checks every round automatically

Right, at full skill bonuses. I don't doubt that the checks are being made, I'm just not sure that the full skill bonus is being applied.

IIRC, only Search checks are made at half skill bonus if not set on Search mode. That it works properly, i cannot say.

However you're supposed to have a +5 bonus to listen skills if you stand still.

I'm pretty sure you only get half skill bonuses for search, spot and listen if you are not in detect mode or do not have keen senses.

My non-extensive tests shows that it is much harder to detect hidden opponents if you do not have keen senses (and are not using detect mode of course). I would say the feat works as it should.

it's hard to say, cause it's not documented at all by Bioware.

Yeah, I looked through their forums and couldn't find any information about this feat, and if it was working properly. I suppose I could post on the Bioware boards, too. If anyone would be interested in testing this out with me sometime, let me know.

With regards to search checks to detect secret doors, I get the feeling they are only made when the character enters or leaves the area.

Actually according to the way the new (post-SoU) secret doors work, the checks are made when you enter the placed trigger area.
