A new applicant saying hello

I have just submitted my application, downloaded the big installer and am waiting to hear back. At first I didn't want to spend too much time reading the guides, histories and other things or even post on the forums (incase my application failed) but I got lured into it and it all seems very impressive - I will be very disappointed if my application fails.

The character I have most played over the years is an ex dwarven naval officer with a good hand for the rapier. He once successfully captianed a naval supply ship (a clipper) and was considered one of the best blockade runners in the navy. Now for reasons only he and few others know of he exists as a land-lubber seeking enough wealth to hopefully one day buy a small ship and return to his beloved home - the open seas.

I just wanted to put that small snippet to see if anyone sees that as having any conflict with the world of Avlis as I don't know it well enough yet. For example if there is no such thing as a dwarven navy or any military navy then I will need to adjust my characters history to have been in a merchant navy or something along those lines.

my only thoughts (being a non-team member) are that there are no ships enabled in the NWN engine (though I think there's a hak for them - but Avlis hasn't / won't have). So basically means you won't ever be able to complete your life aim in-game. But that might be ok with you

Thanks Aradan, hope to see you there too. I'm sure never getting a ship will pose no problems - after all, the adventure is on solid ground with all the other land lubbers

Just to make sure will the confirmation/rejection email for my application come from an avlis.org address? I have set up a message filter for that so the spam nuker doesnt crush them but if its not coming from an avlis.org address I need to know to set up another filter.

Sorry knew a player who had a dwarf character who used a rapier exclusively. Even in the face of belittlement from other dwarves *giggles*
