Deities, Dagath and Domains
Hi there. Three things... mainly.
1)
With my first character here, I'm considering a human cleric of Dagath. Of the orders following Dagath, the one that makes the most sense for the character I have in mind is the Order of Death. However, I had not planned to make this character evil. I've noticed in the descriptions it states for life and rebirth a follower is usually good or usually neutral, but in regards to Death it states the followers are evil. So, I was not sure if this was a semantic situation or if members of the Order of Death had to be evil.
Also, is it necessary to follow an Order at all or could a character simply worship Dagath with no particular outlook?
2)
I've noticed there are no particular clerical domains listed that must be chosen for any of the orders (or deities that I have read). I understand the common sense aspect of choosing a domain, but in a roleplaying sense I would think that a domain choice would be more based on the personal strengths and weaknesses of the cleric so long as they do not oppose the deity. So, I am not sure how the community feels about the clerical domain selection process.
3) If I created a human follower of Dagath, which city would you recommend I start in. Again, this is my first character here.
If you think having an idea of what I have in mind considering the background might make it easier for some of you to help me out, let me know or PM me and we can discuss it.
Thanks for the help (in advance).

Re: Deities, Dagath and Domains
Hi, I'm not 100% sure about #1 so I won't address it.
It is however just Sugestions and nothing more. You can take any domain you wish and no one will bat an eye at it. But for those who want to know what the team recomends, there's a list out there.
Hmm there's a list of domains for each of the gods somewhere. I know there is because I wrote it. It might be part of the New Players Guide...RumblingSky wrote: 2)

I'd say Mikona, both because of Dagath and because of your race. Mikona is the 'human city' on Avlis, and the one Dagath has the most presence in.3) If I created a human follower of Dagath, which city would you recommend I start in. Again, this is my first character here.

Well you have a couple options. You could make a non-evil PC in the death group, and if you find it's needed, then do a few things to alter the alignment.RumblingSky wrote:I'll wait to make the character until tonight just to see if anyone has any comments on #1.
Also it's imporant to note that on Avlis Evil does not mean Bad. It's possible to have a Evil PC, who is a fairly nice fellow.

Actually, those are both very good points. Originally I had Lawful Neutral in mind, but at the same time Lawful Evil could be fitting. IC, it would all boil down to how deeply the events which lead her down her current path have affected her. Ultimately, I think it would be more fun to play the latter.Vanor wrote:Well you have a couple options. Dagath DM here with my opinions on this.
We've also had worshippers without Orders, so it's allowed. It might have consequences for your advancement in the church.
Once you create your character, the church has private boards, so PM me for access.
My PC is Order of Death, and she's LE. Personally, I think she's much more towards LN with the exception that she is willing to kill whomever her church requires without asking questions. That includes cute little children, should it be required. That's part of what being Order of Death is about, and why most of them are evil. Honestly, in the 6 months she's been Order of Death, a hit on a living being hasn't come up.RumblingSky wrote: 1)

Order of Death would probably require Death domain, and Order of Life Healing. You'd be hard pressed to argue something else, but it could be done. Other than that domain choices are fairly free.2)

Mikona, honestly. It's also the only city with a Temple of Dagath that I know of, and is where most of the Dagath PC's have historically been based. There's a small shrine in LeOr T'Nanshi.3) If I created a human follower of Dagath, which city would you recommend I start in. Again, this is my first character here.

I've played an Order of Death Dagathite PC as my main for the last 8 months, odd. I pretty much agree with Hylia, but have some extra comments, anyway:
That said, yes, you can be an unaffliated worshipper.
My character is Chaotic Evil, in the Order of Death. As state by Hylia, it is the outlook and duties of the Order of Death that make them evil, rather than any particular desire to be a bad person - most of the time, anyway - so I would say that 99.9% of Dagathite PCs will be the alignment their order suggests - because its the outlook of the Order that lends them their views, pretty much.1)

Death and Healing here. Healing is due to her past, Death is due to her present. I'd say the Order of Death PCs should have Death or Evil domain, Life should have Healling or Good, and Rebirth should have two different ones, or one of each. Personally.2)

Human + Dagath = Mikona.3) If I created a human follower of Dagath, which city would you recommend I start in. Again, this is my first character here.
