ECL for custom races
Heh, another general question... can someone please explain to me what does the ECL: 3 mean in Wemic's description. I asked a Wemic player today, he did his best, but I seem to be dumb
and don't get it at all... what are this "beast levels"? What is ECL? It does affect xp-gaining rate, or something else/more than that?

ECL is extra levels applied to your character in a class that is weaker than true character classes.
So a wemic barbarian starts with three extra beast levels - but these beast levels are vastly weaker than three barbarian levels would have been.
A level one wemic with three beast levels is not as powerful as a level 4 character, but spawns monsters as if it were a level 4 character.
It affects your level advancement in the long run as well as how many character classes you can choose.

the levels give 1hp each.
This especially hurts because the first three levels give you maximum HP normally.
I can't remember the stats for 3 beast levels though. *furrows brow*
ECL hurt maximum level more before the advent of stupid... err... epic levels. It was a real trade-off, especially for casters, druids and monks.

I recall red golem's post - Abyss404 specifically designed ELC to give new characters a boost due to the difficulty of the server.
Fairly sure avlis wants it to be a penatly
EDIT: Hala, too - 1hp/ecl level. Dunno about other servers.

So with an ECL of 3, would you need 4000 xp points to level. As I have never played an ECL char but my understanding is that the ECL is a special class so you would need to gain the extra xp to level.dragon lord wrote:ECL means effective character level for exanple if you have an ecl of 3 your character is more powerful than a level 2 but weaker than a level 3![]()
