God of Commerce?

Post by monocrat » Tue Jun 22, 2004 12:47 am

Newbie here, really looking forward to getting into Avlis. I'm trying to prepare my character, and I was wondering if anyone could help with this question:

Are there any good- or neutral-aligned deities of merchants, traders, financiers, or of commerce generally? I couldn't find any such reference to commerce or the like on the forum or the manual. Travel was listed as a divine of domain of four deitiesl (Ptah being the highest of them), and commerce was sometimes lumped in with travel by the ancients. Is that the case here, or is there a Waukeen-like deity somewhere in Avlis?

Sham thanks Hurine when he has good days. Then again, he curses Hurine when he has bad days.

In retrospect, maybe those bad days are a product of cursing hurine in the first place.

It seems there's no two ways about it with deities, except perhaps Forian: "Go ahead and curse me. I do it all the time when I feel like it."

Another question:

While I'm planning to start in Mikona, I was thinking of having my character's backstory taking place in Crosstreams; is that all right? I know that area is still under development, so I don't want to step on any toes. I don't take any liberties with that setting, just naming my character and his family and making them minor, and eventually dispossessed, landed gentry.
