Where is leor? Killing rats is good xp, but I've only found 1 rat in Elysia..TheJester wrote:Your best bet if you wana get some half decient xp and get up a level or so is go kill rats in leor. they are prety easy and provide half decint xp. there the same as the rats in elysia exept there is more of them .or one way i found to level up faster at lower levels is try to hang out with groups of people that are gona hit up the beetle cave or some kind of quest were everyone gets xp. you do get some xp for rp'ing when dm's hapen to so see you but that dont happen to often so your best bet is hunt rats.

Starting quests, low level XP
Just my experience as a noob ...
Elysia is much easier than Mikona and more geared toward newbies.
The 'sign the writ' quest in Elysia is the best I've found so far. Each signature is worth 75-150 XP, much more than the typical fedex. If you get 8-10 signatures (and why not) that's 2nd level right there. Most sections can be done alone, but it's more fun in a group. Plus it has a more compelling plot, I really felt like I was on a quest, not just playing messenger. It's ingenously designed to send you all over the 'safe' parts of Elysia, and I learned my way around the area pretty well by the end.
Everywhere I've gone, the players have been *fabulous*, I mean, I'm really stunned. Thanks guys for taking the game seriously.
When you're in town, always grab a fedex or two. When you're in the vicinity, drop it off for a quick 20-30 XP and some gold. Every little bit helps.
Mid/high-level PCs have been very helpful, and on several occasions lead a group of us on a mini-quest, basically healing and baby-sitting, making sure we didn't get in over our heads. These were good experiences, lots of party interaction, RP, a goal ... great stuff. Many thanks to our baby-sitters.

Well, from one of the baby-sitters...you're welcome!Greymorn wrote: Mid/high-level PCs have been very helpful, and on several occasions lead a group of us on a mini-quest, basically healing and baby-sitting, making sure we didn't get in over our heads. This is probably one of the reasons that Elysia is more newbie-friendly than Mikona: the average alignment of the PC's based in Elysia (not the players, but the characters) is more geared towards good and benign, meaning that for more PC's it's actually IC to indeed take the time and trouble to help out.
Until we meet again!
Oh, and as you're a bard, feel free to create poems, songs, proze and whatnot on the Elysia IC-boards to narrate of your adventures and endeavours.

Here's a hint: go open an alchemy table and scroll down through the things you can make (at all difficultly levels). Try matching up the names of the final product with the name (or part of the name) in components that you find lying around.Kreetogg wrote:As long as you bring it up, any hints (just hints, otherwise I suppose it would be cheating) on starting with crafing. No luck so far
As far as components, walk around outside the gates, in the farms, maybe even other places citizens don't travel and bring back all that you find. My character collected a hand of everything available and just started by trial and error. It will take you extra time but its all about adventure and discovery.
One lone rat? Where are you hunting at? the city streets? Try darker places where a rat may hide. Think like a rat... you want food, water, and to be left alone in a dark hiding place.mighty_alcibie wrote:

While it may be hard to find people in such a vast world, all you have to do is be friendly and say "hi, I am _. what are you up to?" There are a lot of lower level characters about that can group with brand new adventurers. It is best to travel in a group especially if you are not well armed, you don't know the dangers, etc. A mob has better chance of surviving than a soloist.mighty_alcibie wrote:I enjoy partying up, it is much much more interesting. But then again sometimes I don't find anybody to party with and it makes it a bit lonely. Can you learn crafting from buying books? Or is it better to join a guild?
Thx....

On a similar topic to the original post, my lvl1 character was wandering round the farmlands in Elysia, (hoping to find a farmer who wanted a troublesome wolf slaying, or any opportunity for him to shoot things), when some old man told him that the Champions of the Keep often had jobs available. So he set off looking for the place, with ideas of working as an archer.
After eventually finding the Champions Castle, he can't find anyone who will talk to him - the guards just smile, say hello, and continue patrolling before he's had a chance to ask them anything.
Is my character going to: continue wandering around the place, getting frustrated, until he eventually gives up and goes somewhere else; or, is there someone in the place, who can give him a job, that he will eventually wander into?

Your character is going to talk to the man you usually do when you wish to enter a castle...the head of the gate guard...SpectralShadows wrote:On a similar topic to the original post, my lvl1 character was wandering round the farmlands in Elysia, (hoping to find a farmer who wanted a troublesome wolf slaying, or any opportunity for him to shoot things), when some old man told him that the Champions of the Keep often had jobs available. I believe the gate guard will talk to you only after you are level 2.
I am a noobie here too, but that is when he started talking to me ... if a dm or more experienced player can back this up.
Also, while the quest to get the signatures needed to get into the keep are good (if not frustrating at times) there is nothing in the keep at this time. Must be a project they are working on at this time.

The first two times I passed, there was no guard there (just the two assistants), however I passed a third time and he was there, and gave me the quest.
