Player biographies and the Underdark

Post by Orleron » Thu Apr 08, 2004 6:04 am

I would like to alert the players of an opportunity.

If you read the threads I posted on History of the Underdark (the 4 part series), try to notice a pattern in them. As I wrote those histories, I purposely left them very open-ended and expandable. For example, one of the major demon lords, Alifanitax, had many children and some of those children became powerful enough to grant spells to their own clerics. But I did not name all the children. I just said there were "a lot of them". This kind of thing can be used by you when you go to create a character. For instance, if you want to play a cleric, you actually have a chance to make up your own demonlord/psuedo-deity here and have it be one of these children of Alifanitax. I don't suggest that you play one of the actual descendants of these children, though if you wanted to make a tiefling descended from one of these demon's retainers, I could be persuaded to open up the character race here.

Kharakuro and Vasharans should be playable soon too.

Also notice that I did not name any cities or kingdoms, or very few of them, and I also said there were "a lot of them". This should set off another bell in your head. Yes, you can make your own.

IF you choose to make your own thing above, I ask that you do ONE thing for me. Write up the basic history of your demonlord/psuedo-deity or kingdom or whatever. Give it a name and describe some of its culture and characteristics. You only really need a couple paragraphs, but more is better.

I will approve it and give you feedback on it before you can play it, but once I approve it, I will post it on the world info forum and give you the credit. This helps other players to either play under the same deity/kingdom you created, or it helps them come up with their own. If someone did a great entry, who knows? Maybe a few players would take up worshipping that being or being from that kingdom, and you'd have your own little band of players to start making a greater impact on Avlis.

Keep in mind that this is STILL also true for tribes of Tyedu and Jechran, and deities of Tyedu.
