Question to the players

Post by Orleron » Wed Jul 03, 2002 6:29 pm

Hey guys, I was wondering something.

Since I got NWN, I haven't had much time to do anything else with the game except build. So, if you can believe it, I haven't even played the game yet.... not even once. I plan to, but right now I'm focussed on building. Still, I have played Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 and Icewind Dale in the past, so I pretty much know what the game should be like.

But anyways, back to my question.... Since I haven't had time to play much, this means I also haven't seen any other NWN worlds that are being done online, both persistant and non. So, I wanted to ask you guys, how does what we've got built so far rate against what you've seen so far on other places?

What are they doing that we are not doing? What are we doing that they aren't doing? How good is their AI, or have you encountered any at all? Are their worlds larger than what we've got so far? (To date we've got about 15 areas up, not counting the lootable houses.) etc... I just want a general rundown of whats out there by now.

I know some people may have small quests up, but when we do that we want to do it right, so we're gonna and we're not gonna rush it.

I have yet to play ANYTHING that resembles a quest. Avlis is BIG. And as of right now, I can't find a damn thing to do there. I used to go to the sewers, but since I log on and start in a different place each time I can't find my way back :) Also, about map pins. I have no idea what resets this, but if I edit my map, the next time I log on, my pins aren't there. Hopefully stability of the server will affect that.

I have played on the Braveheart mod. It's looking good. You have to start a new char. It was too hard for me to solo as a cleric, and no one was interested in partying. There was like 15 people on it. They start at the point, and run the gauntlet basically. To what end, I do no know. Last time I logged, the mobs were spread out a little bit, so it seemed easier to get some lvls.

IMO, with the size of Avlis, I think you're going to need some kind of guide. Some kind of pointers as to where to go to solo, where to go as a party, etc. Then if you decide to run a campaign, let us know when and where so to speak. That may be easier said then done of course. But hey, set up a team of DM's so that some can cover when other's aren't there and start running campaigns on saturdays or something.

Thank you Dupree. I took your advice and put signs up at the beginning point and between all the areas. I plan to keep doing that in the future.

Eventually we will do some kind of guide and even have a website companion going. But, yes, right now there's nothing to do. It's really a matter of where you put your resources. Know what I mean? We decided to put our resources into having a huuuuge area for players to base themselves in before we make quests.

So being that there's only two of us right now, plus Vanoviel, who's working on his city too, we don't yet have the time to put into making quests. But, we will soon.

Go check out the updates, and you'll see what we HAVE been doing. It's pretty cool.

I keep up on what you're doing... I'm not expecting that there be anything to do at the moment. I understand what you are trynig to do... I am however eagerly waiting for the server to become closed.... I got on today only to find some super high lvl elven ranger there killing all the guards. Then he killed me over and over again. I just kept respawning. I figured that would annoy him till he left which it did. Then I hit the sewers which are looking great.

Strange, what level were you?

Anyone who goes into the server with more than 15 character levels get docked down to 1st level, and all plot flags get turned off on the person.

So, he was definitely not 20th. I'm pretty sure this code works too, because I tested it. Anyone else wanna try logging on there with a lvl 20 and see if they lose the levels? Or see if they can undo the level drain with a restoration?

I was lvl 9... He did like 62 point of damage to me in one hit. He was carrying to green glowing swords. He was a bad ass to be sure.
