Leaders of CoPaP vote to adopt the Community Expansion Pack

Post by Orleron » Wed Mar 24, 2004 9:33 pm

Things are moving at quite a fast pace today. The leaders of the linked worlds of CoPaP have unanimously voted to adopt the CEP. As a service to the players, I will post the details here for you to answer your questions:

1) Maska of Fairhaven will complete the integration of the two Haks. (UniversalHak and CEP)

2) Give our players a MINIMUM of 2 weeks to download this material.

3) Keep an eye out for problems with this hak in the community. Let other people use it first to find out if there are severe flaws. Do this during the 2 week wait. Maybe longer.

4) IF the hak proves trouble-free, and the two week minimum period has passed, we universally adopt it on all our servers and replace our 135 MB UniversalHak3_0 with an 8 MB UniversalHak4_0 (along with the CEP).

Drawbacks:

There is one slight drawback to this. Most of the textures in the CEP are DDS, not TGA. In layman terms that means that people with old video cards may not be able to see the textures when they log into our servers. I do not believe that this problem is widespread, and buying a new video card will always fix it. I also do not believe that this aspect will chase away many players, because I believe the majority have suitable cards for it.

I would start downloading this right now:

Just been tinkering around with things from CEP and been really amazed. It's great news that CoPaP is going to use it :D

Quite a few of us expected Avlis was going to implement CEP; it only makes sense that something as great and progressive as Avlis is adding CEP.

I look forward to the value that CEP will offer Avlis, and congratulate the COPAP leaders on wise and benificial decision.

Youc an also use a download manager such as GetRight.

Fighters do it face to face, Rogues may do it from behind, Rangers can do it from a distance, Wizards do it from out of nowhere, Clerics may not do it at all, Barbarians may do it in a rage, Sorcerers can do it on a whim, Bards on a note, but Paladins have to pay for it!

I've been toying around with it and I must say - I'm near speechless.
Placeable walls, ceilings, waterfalls.... - unreal.
As well as a great new supply of fantastic paintings, utensils, fountains, trees, statues... even a commode!
It's simply fantastic, and that's just barely scratching the surface of what it offers I'm sure.

Dumb question from one who's not really played with the toolset much; does this mean that if we were to design a new house we'd be able to include all of these placeables? (subject to Marauder's approval, of course)

We haven't yet implemented the CEP, but once it's in, yes. Subject to marauder's approval, you could use CEP content in player-owned buildings.

Booyah!

I've given the same answer in many places now.
Everytime, I've said "When its done" but still gave an estimate on when I thought I might finish it.
Guess what, that changes every day... so the only thing that fits is "When its done."

With that said, I hope to finish the work this weekend.
