Community Expansion Pack Released

Post by Orleron » Wed Mar 24, 2004 3:16 pm

Though we are not guaranteed to be using this awesome addition to NWN in the near future, you may want to start the 120 MB download right now in preparation. Here is the link: http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/hakpacks/d ... 6000.shtml

One of the really cool things I noticed in that pack is that they have a million shields with all different sort of "skins" on them. How feasible would it be to get shields with avlissian symbols (holy and otherwise) on them into a hak?

Sure is a cool idea, but one thing at a time. Gimlor is committed to making the look of Avlis come alive, and this is definitely a nice idea to present to him.

But first let us just get the CEP implemented. That will probably take a while, perhaps as long as it took to go to HoTU, so be patient.

I'm loving some off the stuff they've come up with for the CEP. Any idea if the seige engines are functional, or are they just eye candy? If those things actually work, I just may have to sign up with the first recruiter I see...

I'd say they are just eye candy by default. But it is possible to write a script that makes them useable. The HotU SP campaign and some other mods I've played around with had useable siege eng's in them.

That however doesn't mean we will do it... We might but I'd guess if we did it would be a low pirority.

cep2da.hak is mentioned in the descriptive but not in the zip file.

There are actually three files included in the download from NWVault called cep2da.hak. They're in subdirectories though, and you have to pick the right one depending on which version of NWN you're running: basic/SoU/HotU.

I could also have said: read the readme.txt provided in the download.
So much fun,
yet so little time to enjoy it.

Just being overly cautions.....but to be clear, we can down load this, follow the readme file, and it won't conflict with Avlis, right?

Correct. Downloading this will not affect your Avlis stuff in any way.

Yes and no.

You can download whatever hakpaks you like, and put them in the Hak directory of your NWN install, and nothing at all will happen. So they are in this sense safe.

On the other hand, the CoPaP world leaders are now voting to decide whether to use the CEP. If the vote supports this, we'll need to change OUR hakpaks so they don't conflict with the CEP stuff. If you build a module and install both sets of haks now, there will be conflicts. However, none of the builders are going to do this until and unless we've all agreed it's what we want and THEN modified our hakpaks. So again, from a player perspective, there's no risk at all.

Go ahead and download them, put them in your Hak directory, and keep your fingers crossed.

If might be a few months before we implement this stuff, if we even do, but then it might take some of you folks a few months to download it. }8)

I just went through all the monsters, placeables, and new item models.

I'm overwhelmed.

This is fucking incredible. Superlative.

This offers us so many more options as builders, it is unbelievable.

As I look at this CEP, I say to myself that this is what NWN was meant to be all along. The amount of shit you can do with this new set of stuff is unfathomable.
