HotU Animations

Post by Maelstrom » Thu Mar 18, 2004 3:56 am

Is anyone else finding that the HotU animations are not applying to their characters even though the NPCs show the animations? Is there a reason for this?

Yeah, I noticed that with Cor. Doesn't really bother me, but I'm kinda curious as well.

This issue is already being looked in to...
I believe the answer lies in the fact that some custom models needed new animations. Problem is, the animation file used as the base, was not the HotU version.

Fixing this wont be easy... as we did NOT make these animation files.
If we simply take it out... certain custom models may end up not having animations.

I wish I could be more specific, or tell you that we have a fix ready. But simply, I don't know enough about it yet.

I guess I'm not quite following you Them. I logged into a server, saved my character, loaded him up locally and when I walked around, he used the HotU animations. I built my character on the server using HotU. My wife built her character using only SoU and I always saw her moving with the new animations and since we upgraded her to HotU, she can see her character moving with the new animations. Not a complaint, by any means, just a curiosity.

Are you talking about the walk animations?
No idea why it does that.
Half the time, I get the HotU ones, the other half, I get the SoU ones.
Its wierd.

I thought you meant stuff like new animations for new attacks or something.

If you mean the walking ones I've been wondering about that for a while.

A local version of my character will walk with the HOTU look (which frankly looks like sheet  ). On Avlis the same character looks perfectly normal (ie pre HOTU) but some characters look like HOTU and some don't. I'll have to pay more attention to see if they are older characters vs newer ones.

Yes, I'm sorry, I should have been more specific. I was referring primarily to the walking animations. I like the new ones with HotU and I'm a little disappointed that my characted doesn't use them and jealous that my wife's does!

You like them? In HOTU they have the characters holding what is in their hands away from the body and don't move their arms. Doesnt look natural to me. Or do I have some other strange bug?

Yeah, perhaps I'm the strange one. My character's knees are just always hurting because his swords keep hitting them. I think the HotU animations are actually more realistic. Now think about yourself running with a sword in each hand... now don't you think you look funny?

Yes, I can see HotU animations in all the characters and NPC's, but mine.

I always wondered if there was reason some women bounce and others don't. Is this similar or decided upon character generation? Or am I imagining things?

I don't like the new ones at all.
My girl runs as if she is about to fall over and her steps are too long and when she runs with two weapons - oh my...it sucks.

Was that supposed to be more realistic?

As I've used the override to keep the old ones I haven't even noticed if and how this works - guess I'll have a look.

I run with a sword in one hand all the time. It's always moving
