Preparing to go to HotU

Post by Sylvan Phoenix » Thu Mar 11, 2004 11:15 pm

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that soon we will be upgrading to 1.62 and HotU. I am currently testing the new haks on a test module. We will then be upgrading LeOr and Deglos to HotU and 1.62 for some live testing. The rest will upgrade as soon as things seem stable.

So if you don't already own a copy of HotU (and you want to keep playing on Avlis) I recommend you go out and get it now.

Cheers,
Sylvan

cool

Dont want to seem too quick about this, but does this mean that the new tilesets are soon to follow? It would be awesome to have the underdark tilesets in the "Elyisa underdark" and other areas like that

I doubt the underdark will be recreated to use the new tilsets. Perhaps new areas, but not existing ones. That is way too much work.

I havn't even played the official campaign so I have not really seen but it would be cool. I want to see someone with a Floating Eye familiar. Perhaps there will come a day when they revamp parts of underdark with new tileset.

just want to ask for a more presise date because i play multible servers and the other servers i play have all ready upgraded to 1.62, so i dont want to make to copies on NWN ot my hard drive, just want to know when it will be upgraded (at least the city of Mikona) so i can join the fun, right now i just get the typical text "client and server versions dont match" so i cant come and start playing just yet.

I really hope this happens soon because i'm jumping hoops and chewing my arm of waiting to get in.

Sorry, we can't give an exact date. The new hacks are being tested. Once we think they are stable, we'll roll them out across the servers.

Got a messege on the server Deglos saying they are now begining testing.

So its begun. :D :o

Question: What all do I need to log into Deglos (1.62 and HotU) is there anything else I need or is it closed testing till its stable ?

1) Update your system to HoTU 1.62
2) make sure you have the 2 updated haks in your hak directory
3) make sure you have the new CoPaP.Tlk file in your Tlk directory

we should be working over the course of the day to slowly update each mod. so please make sure you are prepped for that.

I just spent 10-15 minutes "looking" for these. Easiest way to find them, go to the "downloads" page on teh avlis home page. Go to Harvey's site. Scan the "dates" section of the HAK list for the March 10 and 11 entries. Download those haks.

Is it true that the CoPaP .tlk file is only required if you play a custom race, or should everyone be using it?

Ok, sorry for being a dummy.. but:
The haks go in the hak directory - got that one :)
But what about the tlks ...? CoPaPTlk_2_0.tlk & dialog.tlk - do these both go in the tlk directory, or does dialog.tlk go it the main folder (C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN) ?

No! The tlk is required the same way now that the haks are required. You need the tlk in your tlk folder to play.

Let me remind you to put the tlk not in the nwn directory but in the subdirectory named "tlk". This mechanism for tlk-support was introduced with Hotu and fixed for multiplayer with 1.62.

Dont forget to remove the avlis dialog.tlk if you installed it and replace it with the original (backup of the original dialog.tlk for hotu 1.61 : http://www.epignosis.info/download.php?view.52 ) ! Then update to 1.62. Then put the haks in the hak-folder and the copap.tlk in the tlk folder. From now on you will not need to touch the dialog.tlk of nwn ever again.

Don't touch your dialog.tlk file. Just leave it alone. ;)

Put the CoPaPTlk_2_0.tlk in your Tlk directory.

We'll be moving Le'Or over next, other servers to follow.

Ferrell and Elysia are now HotU 1.62.

The only non-HotU non-1.62 modules are now Mikona and the Wilderness. Those will follow soon.

Elysia is still reporting 8042 + XP1
It should be 8047 + XP1 + XP2...
EDIT: Same with Ferrell

Has the update been done, but not posted live?

The server hosting Elysia and Ferrell had to be reverted to 1.61, we are working on it now.
