Robes of Invisibility--Cheap!

Post by tha_monsta » Wed Jan 14, 2004 10:51 pm

Hi. I'm a new Avlis junkie playing on Mac, was wondering if more experienced players might help me out:

Certain outfits (I think robes, mostly) appear invisible to me--ie I see a floating head, 2 hands, 2 feet, and nothing else. Am I missing a hak, or is this a weird Mac thing?

Thanks in advance for your help--and my appologies if this is an age old question.

Wow 3 of them. yeah

no this is happening to PC people to sometimes. IIRC it's because Avlis is not completly HotU.

My guess is your missing HotU, and those people are using HotU robes...

Otherwise, the only other thing could be the dress hak, but that's part of the hacks you need to be able to play at all.

Sometimes things don't load even if you have correct haks. Relogin helps most of the time.

I saw this one at the last Ferrell fair. All sorts of characters with no arms, legs, or torsos. Rather creepy. Taking an area transition fixed it.

I recently picked up a "Design by Claire" someone had sold to an NPC merchant in Le'Or. Putting it on seems to produce a "blend" of the torso model for that outfit and the sleeve models for whatever outfit I was wearing immediately before putting on the outfit. AND there are no legs displayed at all. Wearing it makes me a floating upperbody that can fly through space.

LOL.. it's probably one of the female dresses that doesn't convert correctly when worn by a male character..? which design is it?

and on another note..... Claire is going to be very dissapointed in whoever decided to sell off one of her designs... :P

Must be a HOTU issue--because it never corrects itself. Guess I'm just gonna hafta buy it and figure it out for the Mac!

Probably well worth it!

Its a HOTU issue. When I got an installed HOTU, thats when it first appeared. IT did this in both the SP campaign and has been doing it on Avlis.

Unfortunately I can't quite figure it out, because everything looks normaly one out of every 5 log-ins.

Its always done it for me. Its a highly inconsistant bug, striking random people (DIFFERENT random people); at other times, they work just fine. My guess is that NWN can't deal properly with all the Custom Content somehow, and is thus glitchy.

Must have been Amonien.. she bought at Claire's after the principle *one of each of the three most expensive series..* then, afterwars consulted her husband for wich of those suited him best.. and had to clear out her inventory a bit (after all, I am unsure whether they are persistant in mikona chests, and those chests are stuffed by clothes allready...

Anyway... more power to the happy finder!

For a quick fix.

You take your clothes of and stand naked for about 2 seconds, and then put the clothes back on. Seems to work every time. Even if its other characters that see parts missing from you, but is fine on your screen.

I find that if I leave the server and rejoin without completely restarting NWN then this happens.

Just make sure that after you get booted, the server crashes, or whatever, you always stop NWN completely and reload it. It solves he problem for me.

It probably works for me because I am just so handsome.

Works for me every time too. I have noticed that custom heads / clothing / other stuff sometimes do not properly load after reconnecting. Sometimes area transitions fix it, putting on/off helm for heads, and the same for clothes. Restarting NWN always fixes all the issues though. Happened to me all the time long before HotU even came out.

And it's not HotU stuff not being displayed properly either. The latest patch for SoU added all the robes/heads to it as well and they now display correctly.

Thie happens all the time for me, but is always fixed by either removing and re-equipping my robes or simply transitioning.
Ferrell is the worst culprit, I can guarantee when I log in there something will be amiss if I go there from another server.

I rarely have a problem with this on my own character, but its others I see running around with only arms, feet and a head. I can change my own character out nicely on the rare times I get an invised body, but with any HOTU robe it does this nearly all the time.
