Fixes to UnversalHak

Post by Orleron » Thu Dec 25, 2003 8:24 pm

The universal hakpak for CoPaP had a problem where it was overwriting the new HoTU heads. This has been fixed, and the new hakpak, UniversalHak_2_5, has been posted in the Avlis Public Downloads directory at avlis.blackdagger.net. Please start to download this immediately. It will go live on Avlis soon. Mirror sites will pop up as needed.

Be prepared for some head oddities. I'm warning you. I wouldn't be suprised if player characters had their heads change on them after this. I'm fairly certain that NPC's will.

Downloading it now but do we need to remove the old hacks? And if we do which ones do we delete.

You shouldn't *need* to remove the old ones. Since the haks have different names, the mods should know which ones are called for. If the old ones aren't used by any of the mods, then they can be removed, if you want, but I'm not certain how far along each module is in switching from old to new. What I mean is, I don't know if maybe Le'Or is using the old 2_0, while Mikona's using 2_5, so you might want to hang onto both for a bit of time.

Just a note I selected one of the heads from hordes when I made my character Elway and with the 2.0 hak it was changed to a different one. Now with the 2.5 hak in, the head changed but its still not the one I chose hehe. Just curious if you were still going to look and fix it or not worry about it.

Ok yes players who selected one of the custom heads that overwrote any HotU heads will the get the HotU head instead.......With Vichan this is ok..it led to some RP and its not a bad head anyway....however Nuquerni Delothion..my Lorewarden of Vorin DID get an orc head....or at least a close facsimile thereof...

Can this be repaired? Is the only repair, modification of the .bic file?

Or could I arrange to have a new PC made and leveled up to match him?

Ideas please.......

Such cases will need an edit of the bic file.
As for anyone who has chosen a custom head AFTER the patch, and their
head is all silvery... that is being fixed slowly, but surely. I posted the
complete list for Orleron. I may end up fixing some for him. I'm sure he'll
post again when the rest of the missing texture bugs are fixed.

Er...are we supposed to remove previous versions of haks when a new one comes out?

i.e. Right now I still have the UniversalHak, the UniversalHak 2.0, and the Universal Hak 2.5 in my Hak folder.

Do I need to remove the first two and just leave the latest one? Same with CoPaP haks etc.? I'm a halfwit for never realizing this might have been an issue I know, but this upgrade to HotU and 1.61 is the first I've had any troubles with.

Leave the old haks where they are; they won't cause any problems.

Isn't it possible to extract the new HotU heads, and renumber them to numbers higher then the custom head hak heads? Then these could be added into the Universal hak. Seems that anyone who used a custom head model will get a face job if the custom heads are numbered after the HotU heads.

Is there any update on this issue yet? Will the HotU upgrade have any impact on characters who have modified heads when it is implemented?

Just wondering sinse my main character is unplayable with his "new head." :(
