Avlis downtime for hardware upgrades

Post by Orleron » Sun Dec 21, 2003 8:02 pm

Avlis will be going down for a couple hours today sometime around 9pm GMT. Silk and I are doing some small hardware and furniture upgrading. This is in preparation for new computer purchases which will enable our mods to run faster and be more numerous.

Ah scratch that. We're not going down and don't plan to until sometime in early January.

Oh sure ... I go and cut a hole in my wall to put my wife's computer on my network seeing as I figured there was going to be downtime. But noooo, you don't take the servers down and now I have this fairly nice sized hole in my office wall and my wife is pretty pissed off at it. :x

But as it stands she now, I let her go to bed. Then I get her system up and running and should have the hole fixed tomorrow morning after she goes to work. Ofcoarse she has no clue that's I've patched bigger holes in sheet rock before. But that's a story for another time!

Anyways, next time Orl or Silk, I'll let one of you get my wife's approval before I just do a project like that again.

For those of you whom are network savy and want to know why I had to make such a large hole. I somehow managed to get my fish tape caught in a joice and looped around a nail.

I'd rather have my gigabit LAN thank you. :P

Ditto Themicles - what else would I be wiring in my house? Ofcoarse before my wife went to sleep she talked to her dad and found out that by me running the network I've increased the value of our home. 8)
