Well, this is fun! Created a Bard 16 / Fighter 4, and I get to see a few dangerous places solo that I've never seen before.

If you want to use the basic game to make a reasonable uber character, open up NWN Chapter 4, create a new character, use DM commands to give yourself 200k exp and start levelling. Then give yourself 3 million gold, and go shopping. Remember that the basic game has some great robes for monks, so give yourself a level of monk or some UMD skill.

Addendum of the morale of the experiment :

1) the hour proved to be 10mn for me
2) resisting to spoil the world by visiting high level areas where I will not be able to go before long was hard... but possible...
3) resisiting to kill those pesky Mikona guards now, before I become strong enough to do it was also hard... and not possible

It was fun for a few minutes.

A level 20 monk with some money - bought some kit from the guy in the Wharves area.

Went through the Beetle Caves with only bare fists or a decent kama - I lost only 4HP in total.

The Ogres and giants - no problem. The Umber Hulks in the Mithril cave - no problem.

Then, I went to the Wilderness - met a few Half-Elven Rogues. I ran back and was followed by just one. I fought that one and went through about 12 of Fanos best potions before I managed to kill him. Worrying but the best fun of the whole exercise.

Incidentally, I went to LeOr Roots - the Rats were no problem. However, no Spiders were spawned - no idea why not. Is that usual? I was in areas with cobweb on the trees, but nothing happened.

The thing this has taught many of us is - Roleplay is Everything.

I was experimenting and created a 12lvl mage 8lvl blackguard (I know! a very strange combo!)

He could hide, kill and create massive amounts of undead.

Was in the wilds and spawned a group of about 8 bad ass mercs. TOok pretty good care of them untill my stone skin was toast. Had fun for about 10min.

decided that have a 20th lvl character without the work of actaully getting him to lvl 20 is like being handed the prize without actaully winning the game.

Cant wait to go back playing a character with 9 months of history behind him, and no Uberness whatsoever. RP is everything.

Avlis rocks!

Yeah, I didn't sign in until the servers came back up normally. It gets really old being all uber. Its a better feeling to earn it gradually over time.

We are meant to grow and become more powerful, just not at the expense of RP. The best feeling is to get a nice piece of +3 armor or weaponry and know that the last 3 months on AVlis has paid off and that you're activities as an RPer have been recognized at long last. It feels good to know that you finally leveled up, a whole month since your last level, and that you enjoyed every minute in getting there.

as has been said elsewhere, its ok to have a destination and get there, but make sure to stop and smell the roses while you go.

I basically went on for a half hour trying out my next level for Friday. I added shadow dancer and tried her HIP feat. It was fun and was fun for I took her against her old targets, animals, various bug bears, and then half orc bandits. HIPS is great but not all encompasing like some on bioware boards would have you believe.

That was fun! Thanks guys. Now I know what it feels like playing a lvl 20 on Avlis.

It was fun to test out some crazy ideas for my PC, sneak a peek at the Underdark, and live out some crazy fantasies ("I'm gonna walk out of Elysia and kill every soldier from there to LeOr...").

It'd be a fun regular event. For a few hours each month, run the servers on localvault and we can have a little comic relief.

Thank you team! it was fun but not as much as normal. I like my avlis with repercussions for my actions and this was a fat reminder of that. Thanks again.

Yep, I like my Avlis like it is. But it was fun running around with Sereg'Wethrian P'Wnyouall for a bit and kissing ass on the Sereg some DM was spawning.

"Wow! When will I get a sword like that?!"

There's some half-orc running around Mikona that I think somehow got left over from the free-for-all.

(not really, but this fekker really is hard to hurt).

Unfortunately I had to work while all the fun was going on. It would have been interesting to see what life was going to be like at high level but as it is I'll have to wait until the real thing happens 8)
