Re: Any Avlis alternative to Christmas?
Actually, almost every nation in the game should have its own set of holidays and festival days, all unique. All of which would naturally develop over time.Fifty wrote:I want to be bale to give out Christmas presents in Avlis, but obviously thre is no Xmas! That reminds me of a similiar subject.

I noticed on other PWs that some deities have Holy Days and such. Now that we have a persistent date and calendar, perhaps we could create holy days for the Avlis gods. This could 'make for some interesting roleplay' TM and what not.
* Malekis 'joyous festival of pain and death', for example. (Oh wait, that's everyday)
* Dru'El's 'wander aimlessly through the forest alone doing good things' yuletide.
* Mikon's 'do whatever you normally do - nothing to see here' extravaganza!
* Gorethar's 'I'm gonna cleave yer skull!' weekend blowout might be nice.
Thoughts?

Sure, come celebrate Lord's Day with the church of Dru'El. Highlights include:
* getting really drunk on wine
* singing
* drinking more wine
* slurring some more songs
* breaking out the mellowsmoke stash "from Arborea, man!"
* drinking yet more wine
* sending the youngest person present on the annual Lord's Day Quest (buy us more wine, dammit!)
* staggering off to find a tree to vomit/urinate against
* hugging the tree and telling it how much you really, really love it
* finding the party again (traditionally the longest part of the festivities for many party-goers)
* a seven-course vegetarian meal
* group sex!

Visit any Temple of Dru'El, and it should be possible to change your alignment, if you meet the requirements. CG/NG only, I'm afraid... but damned if it isn't worth it.Mistcaller wrote:Could a DM change my deity field please?

Yeah, it's based on alignment, not class, and I know about the bug. I'll fix that in the next few days. Right now NG characters can worship Dru'El, but not CG, which is annoying. It's on my short to-do list (as opposed to the loooooong one).Gairus wrote:Err... actually, at least in the high temple in Le'Or...
Doesn't work unless you are a cleric. My CG Ranger can't change diety but my NG Cleric did. That's why I stuffed up with my Centaur a few weeks ago, figured it wasn't fully scripted in yet
EDIT: Got the alignments backwards.

Well my character celebrates Yule.
So in M'Check there might be at least 4 Holy days a year (the equinox's being the big ones but midsummer and midwinter would also rate).
In terms of Mikon, the equinoxs should be the high holy days, while the other two would be worthy of note as they represent the turning point back to balance.

I think Forian should have a holy day...I mean, how much fun would that be? Can anyone say Calvinball?
Anyway, the Forian Holiday ought to be an impromptu celebration that occurs whenever the Forianites damn well feel like it. It should include the following things:
1) It's Forian, dammit, something freakin' different every freakin' time!!
The location should be wherever, the time should be whenever, and the people involved should be whoever wants to be there.
Number of times per year the holiday should occur: somewhere between 1 and 365. Maybe more if held in different locations simultaneously.
Well, Actually, whaddya think? Should my alt be a cleric of Forian?

Actually if you wanted to make it real,..stuff like holidays would come from places like...
1.Religion (like it or not that where christmas comes from BTW)
2.Government(Stuff like vetrans day in the USA is one like that,Warring nations on avlis would probably have something like that in memory of those who died in service as well,...hell most countries do)
Then Keep in mind that business and liberals eventually get involved in it and eventually dilute the true meaning of why it was a day to be celebrated in the first place.
Sad but true......
