Avlis Team takes on a Modeller!

Post by Orleron » Fri Nov 21, 2003 2:19 pm

Please welcome Gimlor aka Hellfire to the Avlis Team. Gimlor is an accomplished modeller who is doing extensive work on the Arcane Space Tileset and accessories, among other things. He continues to be a core member of the Spelljammer team at the former Mystic Nexus site, but has also been a big fan of Avlis and wanted to do some concurrent work for us. Let's welcome him here and give him some time to see what he brings to the table!

Great news - soon our custom characters will be able to move correctly and wear clothes

Welcome to Avlis.

Yeah right! LOL!

Hellfire is an awesome modeler....if you have ever looked at his work then you would agree. He is my teacher (modeling & texturing), mentor, and brother in law.
I am glad he gets this chance to show off his skill.

I'm looking for a modeller myself. Lingerie preferred but others types of modelling will be considered.

All the above is true...I have looked at his work, did the interiors for his personal spelljammer as well as help him with lighting on the stuff he does for work. I got him rolling...my modelling tends to lean more towards photorealistic architecure and hence is poly heavy...he has mastered the art of low poly count modeling. I've modeled light fixtures with poly counts higher than whole spelljammers he's done...He amazes me constantly.

Hey Nightbringer. the Batship should be finished anytime now. The Caveruins set is coming along fast, and I expect completion within a week to a week and a half, An i should be hearing back from the animator on the Thri-Kreen.

Yes, Vichan did get me started in modeling and has helped me a lot through the years especially with texturing and lighting. Now it's time for me to school him on low poly modeling since he is now part of my modeling team.... Muahahahahaha..... I have finally trapped you Vichan!

Also I would like to say thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I hope I can produce some nice content you will enjoy.

Gimlor, could ya post a link to some of your work?

I remember seeing a Spelljammer tile set some time ago, but have no idea if it was yours or not. I assume so, and it was Amazing looking stuff.

Sure, I can post up some work. Since the Nexus went down, I have been meaning to post up my own site with my work. I should have something up by tonight or tomorrow.

Am I the only one that read this thread title and was secretly hoping it was about Tyra Banks?

Seriously, I'm not a member of the team, but I am a player and I'll say welcome, too. I know you'll be busy working on cool stuff that we all will appreciate, but try to find some time to play, too. This world rocks!

Am I wrong in thinking that your caves tiles have cielings? If so, thats
great. I've thought about learning to model just so I could add cielings to
interiors. It'd make sense to have them, and just set them up for tile fade.
But, alas, Bioware didn't initially plan to unlock the camera, so they never
did that themselves.

Good looking work there.

Oh also, everyone make sure you keep track of Gimlor's Cave Ruins tileset. I'm about 99.9% sure we'll be adding it to Deglos when it comes out.

Look, Vicky! A new toy for you!

*Makes the Avlis holy sign in the air over Gimlor* Go forth, young modeller! Gather your disciples! And make things and... stuff.

And don't worry, Nightbringer, everything he makes for us will benefit you directly, especially in the case of the Dracon player model.
