Arcane touch spells: no roll?

Post by keikobad » Mon Nov 10, 2003 11:19 pm

Since when did wiz spells that require a ranged/melee touch roll stop needing them?

I remember a while back my casters had to roll to land a ghoul touch or an acid arrow; not now. Fine by me, but odd. Clerics still roll for their touch spells I'm pretty sure.

Acid arrow never needed a roll for me. I think all the mage spells are not touch attacks. Ghoul touch says nothing about a to-hit, it just has touch for range. Think I tryed Vamperic touch with the same results. They are just melee range spells, not actualy touch attacks.

Harm and slay living did last i checked, the inflicts do. I think the spell range touch is different then needing a roll.

I know NWN uses full AC not touch AC. Most folks (except monks) have 10-15 touch AC even if their normal AC is 30+.

Armor, shield, and natural donot count. Deflection and dodge(dex & tumble) are all that matter.

Acid arrow has never required a to hit roll.

Fighters do it face to face, Rogues may do it from behind, Rangers can do it from a distance, Wizards do it from out of nowhere, Clerics may not do it at all, Barbarians may do it in a rage, Sorcerers can do it on a whim, Bards on a note, but Paladins have to pay for it!

Touch range spells SHOULD require a touch attack, but I ain't complainin'. 8) That is why it is "Touch".

It should require a ranged touch attack roll.

Hmm, I wonder if it was part of some hak then. I'm not sure whether I noticed it on a PW or on standalone, but I remember way back vamp touch being the only one that didn't need a roll, and everyone on the BioBoards bitched about it because it should have it.

Played unpatched NWN OC and Acid Arrow never needed a check then...
